Trip is a 30-year-old man with blond hair and green eyes. He is seen wearing a green t-shirt and grey pants pulled up to his belly button.

Travis was born 30 years before the game's setting, into a relatively poor family. He mentions that at one point he had to spend six months in a shelter, which was a relatively traumatic experience for him. This is the main cause of his obsession with material possessions.

He went to college with Grace and the player, proposing to the former in their senior year and developing a lasting friendship with the latter. He had a job as a bartender at the time, which is where he probably got his affinity for making drinks. He tried to keep his job a secret from Grace, but she found out about it when she and her friends went to the slums off campus and saw him there.

In the events of the game, he has an unhappy relationship with his wife, Grace. The two can be heard arguing before the player enters the apartment, and they begin arguing again after a night with the player goes wrong. The player can rekindle their love, be asked to leave after questioning their relationship, side with either him or Grace and have the other leave, or be kicked out of the apartment by Trip.

Trip is friendly towards the player during the beginning of the game and is relatively tolerant of the player's actions; for example, if the player utters obscenities, he may attempt to laugh it off by saying "you're never afraid to get on our nerves" or "you're not afraid to test my patience". Despite this, he is somewhat irritable and may force the player to leave if provoked enough.

Grace implies that he is a very controlling and even manipulative person, as she claims that he manipulated her into marrying him.

Trip seems to be afraid of being himself, as he always makes everything into a big production and only makes the best drinks, he's superficial and obsessed with material possessions due to how poor he was as a child, and part of the reason he married Grace is because she was better off financially, and he used the fancy decorations of their apartment as a sort of protection from having to live in a shelter again.

It is also implied that this is the reason he convinces Grace to never make art, as the lifestyle of an artist is risky and unsustainable in his head, and that is why he is afraid of something like this happening to him and Grace.

Trip is stated to be 30 years old, meaning he was 20 when he married Grace.
Grace is able to reveal information about Trip attending "trashy sports bars", which infuriates him. Trip sometimes comments that he is a big fan of European culture.
