Рафаэль и его братья Леонардо, Донателло и Микеланджело находились в полицейском участке Нью-Йорка, пытаясь заполучить пурпурный мутаген. Им помогали Кейси Джонс и Эйприл О'Нил. Как только они обеспечили себе доступ к мутагену, их загнала в угол группа полицейских, направивших на них оружие, во главе с женщиной-детективом с блондинистыми волосами до плеч. Они называли их монстрами, глядя на них со страхом и ненавистью. Голос Майки звучал так надломленно, когда он сказал, что они не монстры. А Рафаэлю было больно и он злился. Они не были монстрами, просто... другими. Они были скрыты в канализации всю свою жизнь, их воспитал отец Сплинтер — гигантская говорящая крыса, который обучил их владению оружием и ниндзюцу. Рафаэль и его братья всегда сражались против Клана Фут и в прошлом году победили Шреддера, но им приходилось оставаться в тени из-за подобной реакции людей.
