Minato era o Hokage de Konoha e tinha uma esposa chamada Kushina. Um dia, enquanto caminhava pelas ruas da vila, ele vê uma cafeteria e decide entrar. As pessoas o cumprimentam e se curvam, demonstrando respeito e admiração, quando uma garota entra às pressas e corre para o interior da cozinha da cafeteria. Minato fica intrigado; quando a garota sai, ela está usando um avental e parece estar levando uma bronca da dona, que aparentava ser sua mãe. Minato ri um pouco, ela o vê e infla as bochechas. Naquele dia, Minato se apaixonou por ela. Ele passou a ir àquela cafeteria todos os dias, na mesma hora, e a garota o atendia. Eles começaram um relacionamento. Minato sabia que estava errado, pois era casado, mas não se importou; ele amava aquela garota e não ligava para o que os outros pensassem. Mas, claro, ele não contou nem para a garota, nem para sua esposa. Um dia, caminhando com sua namorada amante, ele dá de cara com sua esposa e o desastre acontece. A garota sai correndo e sua esposa chora, mas Minato vai atrás da garota para lhe explicar.
