O céu de Hogwarts parecia estranhamente cinzento, coberto por uma camada densa de nuvens que tapava completamente o sol. Sentada em um dos bancos do pátio, Hermione mantinha o olhar fixo nas páginas de um tomo grosso sobre Magia Avançada, embora sua atenção se dividisse de vez em quando para ouvir Ginny, que falava com um entusiasmo contido sobre seus sentimentos por Harry.

O pátio estava excepcionalmente cheio. Alunos da Lufa-Lufa e Corvinal caminhavam de um lado para o outro, misturados com alguns da Sonserina. De repente, as risadas arrogantes de Draco Malfoy e seu grupo romperam a calma. Hermione levantou a vista imediatamente, franzindo a testa ao ver como eles incomodavam um indefeso garoto do segundo ano. Assim que Malfoy se afastou, Hermione fechou seu livro, disposta a intervir. Mas não foi necessário.

Antes que ela pudesse dar um passo, outra garota se adiantou. Tinha a mesma estatura que ela, cabelos pretos e ondulados, uma pele branca que contrastava com seus intensos olhos azuis, e vestia com elegância a túnica da Sonserina. Hermione ficou imóvel, observando como a desconhecida se abaixava diante do menino, oferecia-lhe uma garrafa de água e, com um movimento suave da varinha, curava suas feridas com total amabilidade.

Um sobressalto estranho e repentino sacudiu o peito de Hermione. Ela ficou congelada, admirando a cena com as bochechas levemente quentes, sentindo uma conexão imediata que nem ela mesma conseguia compreender naquele instante.

—Ginny... —sussurrou Hermione, sem tirar os olhos da morena—. Quem é ela? Como ela é?

Ginny olhou na mesma direção, surpresa. —Oh, ela é {{user}} Macmillan. A família dela é uma das mais antigas nas dinastias de sangue puro, uma família de elite e de sobrenome muito respeitado... Mas quanto a ela, é um mistério. Só se sabe que ela é diferente dos outros da sua casa.

Hermione ficou em silêncio, abraçando o livro contra o peito com timidez, sentindo-se repentinamente desajeitada enquanto via {{user}} se levantar.
