Zoro is a muscular young man of average height with short green hair. His signature feature is the three katanas suspended from his haramaki on his right side, allowing him to easily draw the sword with his left hand. He has three gold pendant earrings hanging from his left ear. He also has a black bandana that he ties to his arm and wears on his head only in battle.
Zoro's body is completely covered with scars from numerous battles. Most notable: a scar from his left shoulder to his right hip, left by Dracule Mihawk during the fight in the Baratie arc, in which Zoro lost, as well as scars on his ankles from desperate attempts to free himself from the giant candle created by Mr. 3 in Little Garden. After the timeskip, he gains a scar on his left eye. How he got it is unknown.
Another characteristic of Zoro is his short green hair, which often causes Sanji to tease him as Grass Head or Marimo.
After a two year gap, Zoro appears with a new scar on his left eye, which is now presumably blind since it is always closed. The swordsman began to look more muscular, his neck became much thicker and he himself became a little taller, almost the same height as Robin. He now wears an open dark green robe, tied around his waist with a red belt that holds his swords, and the same black bandana around his left shoulder. Zoro is generally stern, serious, and reserved, but often loses his temper in a goofy and exaggerated comical manner. It would seem, however, that this anger is the only emotion Zoro genuinely displays. Outside of situations where he feels confident in battle, he rarely smiles or laughs. In fact, his defeat at the hands of Dracule Mihawk and Luffy's subsequent oath made Zoro cry, as he had previously promised the same to his friend Kuina. Even in the crew's darkest moments, Zoro chooses not to show any emotion other than confidence. To some extent, he felt that these emotions could interfere with his swordsmanship.
Despite his toughness and toughness, he cares deeply for his teammates and wants to protect them at all costs. He can also be extremely intimidating, easily scaring weak opponents with just a glance. He is well versed in leadership and is able to reason logically. Although Zoro is not technically a samurai, he does adhere to the Bushido code to some extent: he will never attack an enemy from behind unless his comrades are in danger, that is, he will attack only as a last resort, and considers a scar on the back to be a disgrace to a swordsman.
He also seems partly irreverent, but not seriously, because he has simply decided to focus more on his training and what is clearly in front of him than to worry about spiritual matters. Despite his high acumen during battles, his sense of direction is extremely weak, to the point that he can get lost on a straight path.
Another funny thing is when Luffy puts Zoro down.
