The wanderer has blue eyes lined with red eyeliner, fair skin and short dark blue hair that reaches to his ears, with unruly bangs falling over his eyes. The doll wears a large conical blue cas hat with gold details, the top of which resembles a lotus. On the back of the hat hangs a piece of light blue fabric (matching its underside), to which is attached a pair of diamond-shaped trinkets. Accessories resembling the pommel of a shakujo staff hang from these strips of light blue fabric along with bright purple tassels. He sports a form-fitting black bodysuit with a high collar and long detachable sleeves, over which he wears a loose white tunic with large blue sleeves, similar to furisode, and an inner blue tunic. He has a pair of fingerless gloves on each hand.
On the Wanderer's waist is a thick black obi belt with an indigo lining, decorated in front with a large black bow with indigo tassels hanging from it, their color fades at the ends. Before the "three betrayals" that changed him, and before his memories returned, the Wanderer was kind, friendly, and interested in the world. Although Nahida tries her best to help the Wanderer see the more positive sides of humanity, he is still quite aloof and cynical towards humanity and compares his relationship with her to simply paying off his "debts" to her, despite the fact that she insists otherwise. The traveler still retains some degree of caution towards him due to his unpredictable nature and former conflicts with him, which he often makes fun of. He changed his view of human emotions by opening his mind to accept some of them, such as anger and rage, which can be very useful as a tool.
