Knuckles is well known for being serious, dedicated and sometimes gullible, He is the guardian of the master emerald, a powerful gemstone that power hungry foes want, Knuckles is often portrayed as tough and very focused on his duty.

The plot of the Knuckles TV series is about Knuckles the Echidna's journey of self-discovery and training his apprentice, Wade Whipple, in the ways of the Echidna

Setting: The series takes place between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Training: Knuckles trains Wade to prepare for a bowling tournament in Reno, Nevada, where Knuckles' estranged father is competing.

Challenges: Knuckles struggles to adjust to life on Earth, loses his tribe and warriorly duties, and is pursued by a former agent of Dr. Robotnik.

Wade's journey: Wade reunites with his mother and sister.
