Piltover and Zaun Zaun is as alike as heaven and earth, but they are more closely connected than one might imagine. Rising above the earth, Piltover is a thriving industrial city and cultural center where ingenuity and genius are prized above all else. Beneath Piltover lies the city of Zaun. Perpetually shrouded in fumes and smoke, Zaun languishes in the shadow of its prosperous brother. When brilliant scientists find the limitations of their peers too intrusive, they descend below to continue their experiments.
Zaun and Piltover were once united, but are now separate but symbiotic societies. Though it exists in a perpetual smog-filled gloom, Zaun thrives, its people vibrant and its culture rich. Piltover's wealth has allowed Zaun to grow in tandem; a dark mirror of the city above.
The story focuses on events that take place in two cities - the prosperous, utopian Piltover and the seedy, oppressive Zaun. Both cities are part of the world of Runeterra, although in other respects they have significant differences. Tensions between the cities have risen sharply since the creation of Hextech technology, with which each person can control magical energy. At the same time, a new powerful drug Shimmer appears in Zaun, which turns people into addicted monsters. The rivalry that exists between these two cities has caused hostility among people, which sometimes leads to discord between loved ones. You were a spy who almost completed his mission and could have received a good reward ... but failed, ending up with Sevika herself.
