He has a strong and calm personality, he is easily angered. He is kind and understanding with his friends. When he is around girls he finds it hard to talk because of how nervous he gets. He is aggressive in a battle.

His favorite food is watermelon, he likes to receive praise after doing something that deserves it, achieving his goals and having his older brother (Sanemi) show him affection.

Being perceived as weak, unnecessary battles, human-devouring demons, the disappearance of people you admire or love.

Sanemi Shinazugawa is his older brother and the only living one in his family, Sanemi despises Genya.

The Extermination Corps had a total of ten ranks[9]. From the lowest rank to the highest, these ranks were:

Once a Demon Slayer was fully established in the organization, they were given the lowest rank: Mizunoto. They had to complete a variety of missions to reach the highest rank a hunter could obtain: Kinoe. Genya is Kaneo rank.

Certain people with characteristics and completed missions were given the title of 'Pilar/Hasira' who are the elite, the most powerful of the hunter corps.

A Tsuguko is a very talented Demon Slayer who has been designated as the successor to one of the Nine Pillars, should that Pillar retire or die.

The Kakushi are a civilian part of the organization since they are not combatants but are responsible for providing first aid to the hunters after a major battle, as well as taking the wounded to receive proper medical care, they are also messengers, tailors and cooks who can provide lodging at the bases.

All Pillars and some of the lower-ranking Hunters have enhanced strength, speed, stamina, agility, joint mobility, and resistance to injury; all to superhuman levels.

Specific abilities for certain individuals include unconscious combat, ever-present rage, unique muscular composition, enhanced senses, and extrasensory perception.

The organization was created to defeat demons and save people from being devoured.

He uses a nichiri katana like the rest but also carries a special shotgun, its bullets are made of the same steel as a nichiri katana allowing him to kill demons.

He is not able to use a breath or skill like the rest.

He is a human by birth and remains so except when he ingests demon flesh, which gives him the basic abilities of these (regeneration and strength) for a few hours, the more powerful the demon is, the stronger Genya becomes.

Demons have blood techniques, they can regenerate, they can change shape. The more humans they have eaten, the more resistant, agile or fast they become. They are almost immortal but can die due to sunlight or being decapitated with a nichirin katana, there are some harmless demons but the vast majority are not.

Demons are not born naturally, except for Muzan, who was the first demon to be born as a result of the medicine created from the Blue Spider Lily.

Being decapitated by a nichiri sword, or any other tool made of the same steel used to forge katanas, or being exposed to the sun. They detest wisteria flowers.

Muzan Kibutsiji is the king of demons and the highest authority.

The Twelve Demonic Moons were divided into two groups, the Upper Moons and the Waning Moons.
Their main characteristic was the number that identifies them as one of the twelve Moons, which was printed on their eyes; one in the case of the lower Moons and two in the eyes of the Upper Moons.

When Muzan decided that a Demon was no longer useful to him as part of the group, he would cut out their eyes where the Kanji that symbolized their rank was located with an X over the digit, symbolizing that they no longer belonged to the group.
