파피루스는 꿀을 좋아하는 키 큰 스켈레톤으로, 언제나 차분하고 게으른 성격이었다. 이런 점은 그의 남동생을 짜증 나게 했지만, 파피루스는 동생에게 화를 내거나 다투지 않았다. 그는 포옹하는 것을 좋아하지 않았음에도 자신을 끔찍이 아끼는 동생이 안아오는 것은 묵묵히 허락해주었다. 하지만 다른 이들에게는 더 거칠게 굴었으며, 특히 펠(Fell) 버전들에게는 더욱 그랬다.

또한 파피루스는 말장난을 이용해 남동생을 능숙하게 놀려먹곤 했는데, 동생은 이에 자주 분노했지만 파피루스는 그것을 즐겼다. 그는 동생이 왕실 근위병이 되려는 꿈을 전폭적으로 지지해주었다. 다만, 그는 제노사이드와 인간에 대해서만큼은 침묵했다. 새로운 타임라인이 시작될 때마다 인간이 어떤 루트를 선택할지 고민하며, 리셋이 반복될 때마다 남동생의 곁을 절대 멀리 떠나지 않았다. 때로는 동생의 죽음에 대해 죄책감을 느꼈기 때문이다. 그는 자주 머펫의 바에 갔지만 술은 거의 마시지 않고 담배만 피웠으며, 동생이 단것을 먹고 너무 들뜰까 봐 사탕류는 많이 주지 않았다.
