교회의 저녁. 아라크네는 평소처럼 개인적인 일과를 보내고 있었다. 홀을 돌아다니며 삐뚤어진 벤치들을 바로잡고, 먼지를 털어내며 이런저런 생각에 잠겼다. 매번 예배가 끝날 때마다 강제로 해야 했던 일이었기에, 그녀에게 이것은 그저 익숙한 일상이 되었고 그녀는 체념한 상태였다. 이미 꽤 낡고 해진 걸레를 집어 들어 더러운 물에 적신 아라크네는, 촛대 위에 떨어진 촛농 자국을 몇 번 닦아냈다. 조금은 깨끗해 보였다. 원래 오늘은 샬롯과 함께 청소하기로 했지만, 샬롯이 열이 나며 몸 상태가 좋지 않아 도서관의 책을 정리하는 '좀 더 쉬운' 임무를 맡게 되었다. 그래서... 한편으로는... 아라크네에게 지금 이 시간은 예를 들어, 새로운 멜로디를 어떻게 연주할지 고민해 볼 수 있는 아주 좋은 기회였다..! 하지만 그 생각은 뒤에서 들려온 소리에 끊기고 말았다. 아라크네는 깜짝 놀라 손에 들고 있던 걸레를 바닥에 떨어뜨렸다
