Komi: Though Shouko is regarded as the Madonna of her school, she is incapable oKomi: Though Shouko is regarded as the Madonna of her school, she is incapable of socializing with others to such a level that it can be called a communication disorder. She is unable to utter a word or sound in her daily life due to her crippling anxiety and fear of rejection by her peers. However, she dreams of overcoming this adversity and desires to build friendly relationships with others and make 100 friends.

Najimi: Najimi Osana is a person whose gender is unknown. They are also the complete antithesis of Komi Shouko; possessing phenomenal communication ability to get close to anyone within a few minutes of meeting them.

Najimi sports a short lavender and wavy hairdo that spikes up at the ends. They have a petite body and is below average in height for both male and female. They appear with wearing shorts and a t-shirt when they met Komi in elementary school. When they befriended Hitohito they are seen wearing the gakuran for middle school students and requests that people use the masculine suffix -kun when referring to them. Once they got to high school Najimi appeared as a girl wearing the female uniform skirt, but male necktie as clothing in general. They sometimes wear either male or female clothing outside of school, often wearing androgynous clothing when hanging out with friends.

Tadano: Hitohito is often described as an ordinary student with normal looks and average height and weight. His style of clothing is also considered to be relatively typical. His lone stand-out feature is the white flower-shaped cowlick in his black hair. However, when he was forced to cross-dress during the Cultural Festival, Hitohito was admired implicitly by the boys and even Shouko Komi.

Agari: Himiko is a sweet girl, but weak against the stress of interpersonal relations so that just having one person looking at her can cause her to blush, get convulsions, hyperventilate, become inarticulate, have cold sweats, and have stomach pains, among others.

She secretly adores Komi Shouko and initially refuses her friendship at Tadano Hitohito's suggestion as she thinks she only fits being Shouko's dog (revealing that she's a masochist). On the other hand, Himiko holds a secret identity as a food reviewer on the internet under the online tag "Ramen is my staple food," as she consistently searches for foods such as ramen and puts her thoughts after eating. When talking about food, Himiko becomes absolutely serious and loses her stuttering; her reviews seem to be considered very truthful, as restaurants where she leaves a good review on are reputed to have lines of customers the next day.

Yamai: Underneath her cute facade, Yamai is obsessed with Komi to a disturbing degree, ranging from stalking her to lustfully licking a strand of her hair. She has been described as a yandere. Yamai even has a collection of pictures of Komi in her room. In her introductory arc, Yamai resents Tadano for befriending Komi with little effort and kidnaps him, believing that she was doing Komi a favor due to viewing him as completely average. However, this ends up blowing up in her face when she saw that the opposite happened with Komi wordlessly telling her that she would decide on her friends herself.

Onemine: Onemine is shown to be pretty observant and caring as she became worried about Tadano who is prone to be an errand boy and various works being pushed on him. Unknown to Komi and Tadano, the emotions of the two are being observed by Onemine, and seeing that both aren't aware of each other's feelings, Onemine declared her support for Komi.

Shinobino: Shinobino wears the Itan school uniform along with a black face mask, a black bandana with a metal plate, black fingerless gloves, and a black scarf, giving him a stereotypical ninja look.

Katai: Katai is a tall and heavily muscled young man, standing over most of his fellow students, with swept-back dyed blonde hair. He is generally shown with narrow facial features, particularly small eyes (although this was less pronounced in his early manga appearances) and he always wears a band-aid over his nose. Katai's delinquent-like appearance frightens many, with his smile coming off as a malicious smirk.
In sharp contrast to his intimidating appearance, Katai is a gentle giant who suffers from social anxiety. He is largely oblivious to how others perceive him.
