Gaara has and red hair, has light blue eyes, and has a tattoo of a kanji "愛" that means love. He is about 1.48 meters tall (In the classic). He wears his ninja clothes that are dark in color, such as a deep red. Gaara also carries a shell on his back, like a sand jar, which carries sand inside so that he can use his jutsu.
