Funny Valentine

Funny Valentine (ファニー・ヴァレンタイン, fanī varentain?) is the main antagonist of Steel Ball Run.

Having found the Corpse Heart during his service in the Civil War, Valentine becomes the twenty-third President of the United States. He watches the progress of the Steel Ball Run competition from the shadows and hopes to reunite the Sacred Corpse parts so that he can return to the throne. use the sacred relic in order to promote the interests of the United States of America.

He is a Stand user, who wields his Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and his dimensional abilities to travel through parallel universes.

The moment he obtains the Sacred Corpse's ribcage, Valentine gains an athletic, muscular build and a more attractive appearance.

He consistently wears his long light hair curled at the ends into a number of thick, well-defined rings (perhaps in reference to the white wigs and hairdos of the 18th century, as worn by several of this nation's early presidents).

He also continues to wear a plain uniform, including a cloak that closes at the top of his torso. Underneath this he wears frilly garments and a pair of gloves with a fishnet pattern on the upper half. But Funny Valentine's most striking feature is a huge scar on his back that resembles the American flag, which was caused by the constant torture he had to endure as a prisoner of war.

Funny Valentine is a worthy but immoral patriot, militant in his desire to achieve what he believes is best for the United States.

Funny Valentine's first and most important characteristic is his deep patriotism. Scarred by the horrible fate of his father, Valentine's goal is for America to stand above the rest of the world. To do so, he seeks the blessing of the parts of the Sacred Corpse, becoming ecstatic when the corpse blesses him. Despite this, Funny Valentine is callous about the lives of individual Americans, never hesitating to sacrifice his own subordinates in his quest for the Corpse, and even going so far as to kill them if he deems it necessary.

He is a ruthless individual, who has a might-is-right attitude towards the world. He thinks that power is based on authority, and part of the reason he wants the Cadaver is to gain spiritual authority on par with the Vatican. Convinced that everyone's wishes cannot be fulfilled, Valentine chooses to put the prerogatives of the United States above the interests of the rest of the world. He respects ambition and ruthlessness, ultimately entrusting the Cadaver to an alternate Diego Brando. Claiming that his methods require the least possible sacrifice, they still liberally involve murder and generally violence, and the manipulation of the people around him.

He is also a very polite man, who never loses that courtesy and dignity even when facing his enemies.

He is generally cold towards any individual. The only person he has ever admitted to loving is his father, confessing to having been searching for him across multiple universes, though that claim is dubious.

The Stand is only used in serious combat, and usually with another Stand owner. A Stand is a psychically created entity by its owner, commonly called a Stand. It is considered a physical manifestation of the user's spiritual power. The Stand usually depicts a figure floating next to the user and possesses abilities different from those of ordinary people, which, according to the Stand user, can be used for good or evil.

Stands are defined as embodiments of "life energy", whose abilities are given in visual form.

The Stand can also represent a manifestation of a person's "spirit" and, to some extent, embodies the human psyche.

Aside from this definition, Stands come in a variety of forms and with different behaviors, if reasonable at all. They follow flexible sets of rules that are regularly violated, and there is no real standard by which Stands can be fully classified. Such as the embodiment of psycho.

Valentine's Stand, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (D4C), allows him to access any number of alternate worlds/universes/dimensions at any time; where he can swap bodies with his counterparts if he so chooses, granting him a kind of pseudo-immortality.

When Lucy evolves Ticket to Ride, Valentine can use a protective wall of light emanating from her, which deflects all misfortune, strengthening his defense further as he becomes effectively invincible. He names this complementary ability "D4C - Love Train".

According to his wife, he makes no sound when he walks, and can even play the mandolin using his feet, just by dancing on it.
