Eustass "Captain" Kid (ユースタス・"キャプテン"キッド, Yūsutasu "Kyaputen" Kiddo?)[8] is a renowned pirate of the South Blue who serves as captain of the Kid Pirates.[1] As one of the eleven Supernovas[1] who landed on Sabaody two years ago, he is part of what is known as "the worst generation" of pirates in history.[9] Following his defeat and the effective destruction of his crew and ship during the Future Island arc, his personal status and that of his crew are unknown.

Appearance
Kid is a pale, tall, and muscular man with flame-like orange-red hair. His nose has a distinctive shape, being pointed with small bumps on either side. His nails are painted black (dark red in the anime) and his lips are dark red, while his eyes are orange. A unique feature of his face is that he lacks eyebrows.[1]

Kid dresses extravagantly. Before the time skip, he wore yellow and black patterned trousers with a red stripe, black boots, and a blue sash under a green belt with a circular gold plate in the center depicting a four-leaf clover. He also wears a thin black bandolier studded with tiny screws, from which hang a flintlock pistol and a dagger with a Japanese-style hilt. He also has gold bracelets around both wrists. He wears square-shaped engineer's goggles on his forehead and a large fur coat over his bare, muscular torso, adorned with studs along the shoulders and clasps. He usually keeps his right arm tucked into his coat sleeve while his left arm is tucked underneath. [1]

Following the time skip, Kid's hair has grown slightly longer, appearing swept back. A large scar runs across his face, starting on the left side of his forehead and ending on his left jaw; a smaller scar also begins on the left side of his forehead, crosses his eye, and ends on his left cheek. He also has two scars on his torso: one starting on his neck and ending on his chest, and a smaller one on his abdomen. His right arm bears two small, parallel scars. During the two-year time skip, Kid lost his left arm and replaced it with a fully mechanical one. As for his clothing, Kid wears the same trousers he wore two years prior, an open black vest held up by a sash with two belts, and a long, dark red coat draped over his shoulders. His body appears more muscular, and he no longer wears any jewelry or adornments. [11]

Upon being imprisoned in Udon Prison, Kid no longer has his mechanical arm,[12] which he later replaced with one made of metal parts.[13]
As a child, his hair was somewhat longer and ended in a pointed shape, resembling a lion's mane. He wore large, round glasses on his forehead and did not wear lipstick. He wore a blue tank top with a patch on the left side, yellow striped pants also with a patch, and simple brown shoes. He was depicted playing with a toy robot and a wrench.[14]

Personality
Eustass Kid is portrayed as a ruthless, merciless, and bloodthirsty pirate, notorious for causing numerous civilian casualties. This reveals a significant element of cruelty, further highlighted when he crucified a pirate crew simply because he deemed them too weak to roam the New World.[8] He is generally depicted as angry or displaying his sarcastic sense of humor. When threatened or insulted, he readily resorts to violence, as demonstrated when he started a brawl with Scratchmen Apoo simply for staring at him. This illustrates that Kid's temperament is, above all, irascible and irascible.[1]

Kid is very proud of his reputation and aspires to reach the top of the pirate world, which he plans to achieve by defeating the Four Emperors, even if it means his own death.[15] That said, Kid has no interest in using the Ancient Weapons (though he is curious about their existence) or other tools that might help him achieve these goals; instead, he prefers to confront them directly with his own power.[24] Because of this, he generally dislikes joining forces with others and sharing his objectives with them, as he believes they will interfere with what should be his fight alone.[16] He also hates being the subject of false rumors that portray him negatively, and he is quick to dispel them if he hears anyone talking about him.[17]

Kid is also notable for his cynical view of the World Government and its leaders, the World Nobles, who, Kid says, unlike them as pirates, lack humanity and justify their abuses by using the wealth granted by their ancestors. His hatred for them is so intense that he plans to become the most violent pirate of all time as a symbol of rebellion against them.[6] For him, pirates are at least honest and have their own "charm."[18] Kid despises the actions of the World Nobles to such an extent that when Camie was sold to one of them, he decided to leave the auction house, commenting that the sale was nothing more than a metaphor for the world's decrepitude, dismissing the whole affair as a farce.[19] He also dismissed the Marines' broadcast of the Marineford war to the world as a spectacle.[20]
Kid shares Luffy's dream: to find the One Piece and become the new Pirate King. Because of this, and his recklessness, Kid seems to have great respect for Luffy. Despite this, Kid deals with his problems in an unorthodox way, eliminating anyone who ever mocked his ambitions. This stands in stark contrast to Luffy's behavior.[21] The pirate seems to believe that having the determination to achieve the impossible is necessary to survive in the New World.[8] After being saved by Luffy in Udon, although reluctant to fraternize with him, he refused to take his life as an act of gratitude, despite Luffy warning him during their first encounter that he would not be so merciful if they met again.

He has a certain interest in staying informed about all the events that occur in the New World. Despite not being an agent of the Underworld, he watched the broadcast of Caesar Clown's experiment just to be informed.[11]

Kid has proven to be a rebellious individual even in extreme situations, refusing to join the Beast Pirates and being brutally defeated and imprisoned by Kaido; and confronting prison guards while incarcerated.[12]

Kid also appears to be very energetic and somewhat impatient, being able to demand more quarry ships on the spot so he can deliver more rocks.[12] Like Luffy, he enjoys eating large quantities of food.[12] However, learning what happened with Killer has made him much more distrustful and paranoid, refusing to ever trust anyone except his crew.[13]
He also has a vengeful side towards anyone who harms him or any member of his crew, while also displaying a protective attitude towards those he cares about. During the time skip, Kid attacked two ships belonging to the Big Mom Pirates because they injured one of his crewmates. After reuniting with Apoo on Onigashima, he attacked him, blaming him for the hell he endured in Udon and holding him responsible for everything that happened to Killer.
Relations
Crew
Kid seems to have a good relationship with his crew members: Wire and Heat have great respect for their captain, as shown when they were attacked by a Pacifista. After escaping from Udon prison, Kid set off with Killer in search of the rest of his crew.
Killer
Killer is his childhood friend and co-founder of the crew.[6] Killer often calms his captain when he becomes enraged and keeps him informed about events in the world. Kid cares deeply for Killer, so much so that he became extremely angry and began demanding explanations for what the Beast Pirates had done to him.[22] Seeing what they had done to his comrade caused him to stop trusting anyone outside his crew.[13]

Rivals
With the exception of Killer, the other Supernovas who arrived at Sabaody two years prior are considered rivals by Kid, who focuses particularly on Law and Luffy. At Sabaody, the three agreed to reunite in the New World.[21]
Kid views Luffy as a major rival in his quest to become the next Pirate King. After the Great Pirate War, he indicated that he wasn't generous enough to let Luffy do as he pleased.[8] In any case, Luffy had already piqued Kid's interest through his actions against the World Government before their first meeting and later at the auction house, where he assaulted a World Noble. Kid also seemed interested in the fact that Luffy was the only Supernova to participate in the Marineford War. After the Time Skip, Kid expressed that he found it amusing to see the pirate's face again.
Luffy and Kid meet again for the first time two years later in Udon Prison and appear to have developed a rivalry over everything, from food to work performance.[12] Together they defeated Dobon by being devoured by him, but after the prison was taken over by Luffy and the other prisoners, Kid refused their offer to ally with them and left Udon, having grown distrustful of any pirate alliance.

Skills and powers
As captain of the Kid Pirates, Eustass Kid has complete authority over the crew. During the time skip, the Kid Pirates continued to increase their notoriety, as evidenced by the increased bounty on Killer and Kid himself,[11] and their intention to attack Big Mom's ships. This latter action demonstrates that he has become bolder and stronger, as he destroyed two ships belonging to one of the Four Emperors. Similarly, he managed to engage the Red-Haired Pirates and injure one of the Big Mom Pirates' commanders, surviving both skirmishes, though not before losing an arm to Shanks' crew. Kid also appears to be well-informed, as he is aware of the relationships within the Underworld.[11]

Before the time skip, Kid and his crew were known for causing significant civilian casualties throughout their travels in Paradise.[1] He is a fearsome pirate who displayed flawless resistance to the Haoshoku Haki pulse emitted by Silvers Rayleigh at the Auction House[31], later defeating a large group of Marines alongside Luffy and Law.[23] Along with his crew, he managed to escape the attack by Admiral Kizaru and Sentomaru in Sabaody.

Arms
Around his torso he carries a pistol and a dagger with a purple hilt. Although he has been about to draw the latter on several occasions, he has never actually done so in combat, so his skills with it are currently unknown.

At some point during the time skip, his left arm was replaced with a metallic one, making him a cyborg. The abilities this new arm grants him are currently unknown, but he is able to combine it with the powers of his Devil Fruit.

History
Past
Kid was born in the South Blue, on an island unaffiliated with the World Government.[7] He had known Killer since they were children. One day, while eating curry udon with his first love, Victoria Shiruton Doruyanaika, they laughed when she spilled curry broth all over herself while eating it, which resulted in her beating them up. This caused curry udon to become his least favorite food.[39]

Kid, Killer, Heat, and Wire were the leaders of the gangs that ruled the island's four cities. After Victoria was killed by a rival gang, Kid united the four groups and wiped out the rival gang. He then decided to form a pirate crew, naming his ship Victoria Punk in Victoria's honor, with Kid as captain and Killer as his right-hand man.[7] They were known to be responsible for much damage and caused many civilian casualties for the slightest provocations throughout their voyage. By the age of nineteen, he had already achieved an infamous reputation, having been mentioned by Portgas D. Ace four years prior as having caused a significant impact at sea.[40]
After a long voyage along one of the Log Pose routes, Kid and his crew arrived at the Sabaody Archipelago intending to prepare for their journey to the New World. His infamous deeds earned Kid a bounty of 315,000,000 Belly on his head.[1]
