Lumine and Aether decades ago arrived together as two stars to this world, born together as twins, of the twins their sister Lumine was the first to wake up, she decided to let her brother sleep and travel and explore the world, she had done something that made Celestia angry which caused the destruction of the world where they had woken up (the destruction of Khaenri'ah 500 years ago destroyed by Celestia), when the world was destroyed, she went to wake up her brother Aether and both fought against the unknown goddess who snatched their powers and the wings they possessed, took her sister Lumine and Lumine saw how the world was destroyed while the goddess left her brother and put Aether into a deep sleep of around 500 years, then Lumine became the princess and leader of the Abyss, when Aether woke up, she woke up in a peaceful Teyvat and a new and unknown world, she met her traveling companion Paimon saving her from drowning In a lake, Lumine found himself trapped in a lake and thus began his journey through Teyvat, becoming a strong warrior and hero known throughout Teyvat and famous for his deeds and story. Searching for his sister Lumine and wanting to save her from the clutches of the Abyss, Lumine has a vendetta against the divine after concluding his journey through Teyvat for unknown reasons. He becomes solely dedicated to achieving the goals of the Abyss Order, regardless of what must be done to achieve it. Despite his questionable actions, Lumine still cares for the traveler, his brother Aether, as they express a desire to return home with them after finishing their goals, and convinces them to continue their journey through Teyvat to witness the truth themselves, rather than force his views upon them.

Aether wears a dark brown breastplate vest that exposes his midriff along with a white scarf and a two-tailed cape with gold embroidery and decals. He wears a golden shoulder pad on his left shoulder and a tasseled earring on his left ear. He wears dark brown pants, brown gloves, and black boots, his body is slim, has a perfect waist and slightly defined pectorals and abs, his hair is long and blonde and is always braided, as for his face, his face is beautiful and has beautiful golden eyes, Aether's color scheme is mainly black, gold, and white, he has shiny pieces on his outfit the diamond on his chest, his earring, his gloves, boots, and decals on this cape that change color depending on their elemental attunement, when they met the unknown Goddess, both brothers had bright white clothes and yellow wings. Later, after the fight with the Unknown Goddess, the Aether Traveler loses his white light. The glowing pieces of Aether turned black until he interacted with the first Statue of the Seven he comes across. The clothes lit up again, but this time turned an elemental color, as he borrowed the power of an Archon. These external and internal threats forced the Anemo Archon to return and take the form of a bard who joined your expedition to save the dragon.

In Liyue, the Traveler and Paimon attempt to meet with Morax, only for him to inexplicably die and subsequently become suspects for being foreigners. They are able to escape, but are forced to enlist the aid of another Herald, Childe, who suggests they meet with the adepts to resolve the problem and introduces them to Zhongli, a consultant from Wangsheng Funeral Home who can lead them to Morax's Exuvia. Childe's help is later revealed to be a ruse when he frees the ancient god Osial from Morax's bonds, but with the help of Liyue Qixing and the adepts, they repel the ancient god. While waiting for their chance to do so, they are called to Mondstadt where they encounter Dainsleif, who wishes to stop the Order of the Abyss. During this time, they stop a plot where the Order was attempting to "mechanize" Osial to do their bidding. They also meet his brother, but are shocked to learn that he leads the Order. They try to convince their brother to leave, but the brother refuses until his "war" with the divine is over. The brother instructs them to continue traveling through Teyvat so they can experience the truth firsthand before they depart, with Dainsleif in pursuit. The Traveler attempts to follow him but is shut out.

The enemy faction Columbina works for the Snezhnaya organization known as the Fatui. The Fatui are a delegation of diplomats from the Zapolyarny Palace of Snezhnaya. There is also a military detachment led by the Eleven Fatui Heralds and the Tsarina herself. They are one of the main antagonistic factions in Genshin Impact. They are a powerful military force in terms of power and numbers, making them the strongest of the seven nations. They are widely feared and despised by other nations due to their deceitful and conniving reputation. The organization is made up of members who serve a variety of roles, including fighters, bureaucrats, politicians, and merchants. Hailing from the frozen lands of Snezhnaya, the Fatui are publicly seen as a political department of the nation that represents the Tsarina's goodwill and manages foreign affairs with the other six nations. However, despite how they initially present themselves, the citizens and governments of such nations are often already aware of their true colors and treat both their diplomats and individual members of the organization with distrust. They often use underhanded methods to establish their power and influence in another nation and are generally willing to go to extremes to promote the Tsarina's vision of a "perfect world." Deception, extortion, and human experimentation are just a few of the tactics they employ to bolster their own strength.

During the aether traveler's adventure through the city of Mondstadt, his lost sister Lumine discovers that he is alive and ecstatic. Unfortunately, they tell themselves that they cannot be reunited until they have completed their own journey through Teyvat.

Lumine is also the one who ordered the Abyss Mages to turn Dvalin into the Stormterror. In turn, she claims that she has already traveled this world (implying that the lost brother awakened 500 years before the other while fleeing Teyvat) and that, when they reach the end of the journey, as he did, they will see for themselves the true nature of Teyvat. Lumine had encountered Clotaire Alberich and witnessed the effects of the gods' curse on the people of Khaneri'ah. After witnessing his son Caribert empowered by the Abyss, Clotaire addressed them as his Princess, which initially made them nervous. However, over the course of their travels with Dainsleif, they realized that he had been right all along, and joined the Order of the Abyss as its current leader,

She is usually cold and stoic being the princess of a place as dark and twisted as the abyss, even though Aether wants to save her, she assures her twin that she does not need to be saved and that the abyss is her new home even though she has wishes to return home with him and travel with her twin, she assured Aether that one day they would meet again but neither here nor now, although Aether has made a stir until becoming famous and considered a hero throughout Teyvat by doing incredible things to save Lumine and get her out of there, he has not yet succeeded, he will continue his journey and missions to save her.
