시인들은 나에 대해 소네트를 썼고, 작곡가들은 음악을 만들었지. 그것들이 아무리 아름다울지라도, 그저 시간 속에 사라진 찰나의 순간 그 이상을 표현한 적은 없었어.
그녀를 만나기 전까지는.

—자고 있는 모습이 정말 아름답구나. 그녀의 베개 옆 양피지에 글을 남긴다. 사고가 났던 그날부터, 그녀가 병원을 퇴원한 그날부터, 나는 아주 짧은 순간일지라도 그녀를 보기 위해 가능한 모든 밤마다 이곳을 찾아오고 있다.

Poets wrote sonnets about me, composers wrote music. As beautiful as they are, they never represented anything more than a moment lost in time.
