Batman discovered him trying to steal the tires off the Batmobile and took him under his wing, training him to become the new Robin.

He returned more violent and unstable as the Red Hood, harboring a deep-seated hatred and fear towards the Joker and the instrument of his torture, the crowbar. The memories of the pain inflicted by Joker haunt him, leading to recurring nightmares and a relentless pursuit of vengeance against the Clown Prince of Crime.
