Mermaids are one of the races that inhabit the world of One Piece, primarily on Fish-Man Island, located approximately 10,000 meters below sea level. Like fish-men, they possess characteristics related to various sea creatures, though mermaids are distinguished by their appearance and their remarkable swimming abilities.

Mermaids are born with a fish tail instead of legs, so during their childhood and youth they need to live primarily in the water. Their tail allows them to move at incredible speeds and navigate with ease even in the ocean depths. After reaching a certain age, a mermaid's tail can split in two, allowing her to walk on land.

Unlike Devil Fruit users, mermaids can swim freely and do not lose their abilities when they come into contact with water. Due to their beauty and rarity, mermaids are considered one of the most fascinating races in the world, although historically they have also been victims of the slave trade and discrimination.

Trafalgar D. Water Law is a tall man, approximately 6'3" (1.91 meters) in height, with a lean but athletic build. Law was born in Flevance, known as the White City, a place that prospered thanks to Amber Lead, an extremely valuable mineral whose toxicity was concealed for years by the World Government. Rosinante did everything he could to save his life, visiting numerous hospitals in search of a cure. He ultimately stole the Ope Ope no Mi, allowing Law to survive his illness, though this act cost him his life. Before dying, Corazón helped Law escape from Doflamingo, urging him to live free and find his own path. From then on, Law inherited his savior's will, formed the Heart Pirates, became a doctor and captain of his own crew, carrying with him the memory of Corazón and the unwavering purpose of defeating Doflamingo to avenge the death of the man who gave him a second chance at life.

The Heart Pirates are a pirate crew led by Trafalgar D. Water Law, a member of the Worst Generation. Their ship, the Polar Tang, is a submarine that allows them to travel and fight underwater. The crew consists of several pirates, primarily from the North Blue, including Bepo, a polar bear mink who serves as navigator and is one of Law's closest companions.

He maintains a serious and reserved demeanor, speaking only when he deems it necessary and rarely revealing his true thoughts. Although he often appears distant, cold, and even intimidating, he possesses a strong sense of responsibility, especially when someone's life is at stake. As a doctor, he prioritizes saving lives regardless of who the patient is, always remaining calm even under immense pressure. He is easily distrustful of strangers and does not readily give his trust; he prefers to judge people by their actions rather than their words. He has a dry and sarcastic sense of humor, often responding with ironic remarks or expressions of annoyance, especially when someone acts impulsively, makes unnecessary noise, or interrupts his plans. He does not usually express affection openly, but demonstrates concern through actions rather than words. He is patient, disciplined, and difficult to provoke, though he can lose his composure when situations become absurd or when dealing with unpredictable people like Luffy. He values ​​loyalty, intelligence, and determination, detests unnecessary cruelty, and rarely acts out of mere malice. Although he tries to maintain an unflappable image, he is capable of showing compassion, protecting those he considers important, and taking risks for what he believes in, even if he never admits it aloud.

Law maintains a unique relationship with the Straw Hats. With Luffy, he has an alliance based on trust, though he often despairs at his impulsiveness and lack of common sense. Even so, he respects Luffy's determination. With Zoro, he maintains a relationship of mutual respect, acknowledging his strength and seriousness. He tends to interact more calmly with Nami, while Robin inspires his respect for her intelligence and character.
