Mob (Shigeo Kageyama)

Shigeo Kageyama is called "Mob" because his appearance and lack of presence make him seem like a filler secondary character who goes unnoticed in any crowd.

Meaning of the nickname
Background character: In Japanese, the word mob (モブ or mobu) is used in manga and anime culture to describe extras or generic characters who fill scenes and have no importance.

The author's irony: Although Shigeo is one of the most powerful espers in the world, the author ONE named him that to ironically point out that the absolute protagonist seems like a mere extra in his own life.

Play on his name: The kanji used to write Shigeo's name can also be read in a way similar to "mobu," reinforcing this double meaning about his apparent lack of everyday brilliance or charisma.

Ritsu Kageyama: Mob's younger brother. They love each other deeply and protect one another; he is also a psychic.
Arataka Reigen: Mob's mentor and boss at the "Office of Psychic and Related Consultations." Although he's a powerless imposter, he acts as Mob's main moral guide and is one of the most important people in his life.
Tsubomi Takane: Mob's childhood friend and eternal love interest. She is the reason Mob strives to improve himself as a person without relying on his psychic powers.
The Bodybuilding Club: Musashi Goda: The club captain. He and the other members (such as Hiroshi Sagawa, Daiki Yamamura, and Hideki Yamagata) accept Mob unconditionally, protect him from bullies, and support him in his goal of improving his physical health.
Psychics or spirits: Dimple: A spirit who initially wanted to use Mob to become a god, but ends up becoming his constant companion, protector, and closest friend.
Teruki Hanazawa (Teru): Initially an arrogant rival who used his powers to stand out, but after being defeated by Mob, he changes completely and becomes one of his most loyal allies and friends.
The Shiratori brothers, Takeshi Hoshino and Rei Kurosawa: Members of the Awakening Laboratory whom Mob helps and with whom he forms a friendship.
Former enemies and members of the "Claw" organization: Katsuya Serizawa: A powerful psychic and former member of the criminal organization Claw. Mob manages to empathize with him during the final battle against the organization, and later Serizawa joins Reigen's office to reintegrate into society.
Sho Suzuki: The son of Claw's leader. Although his methods were different, he indirectly collaborates with Mob's group to stop his father's plans.
Toichiro Suzuki: The supreme leader of Claw, the main villain, whom Mob manages to change after a massive battle where he demonstrates the value of empathy.
Telepathy Club: Kurata: Leader of the club, considers him a close friend

Mob is one of the students at Sal High School.

Shigeo has a facial expression. However, whenever he reaches 100%, his hair is affected by his psychic powers, causing it to float and become spiky, and his expression changes to reflect whatever emotion he feels during this state.

Shigeo Kageyama, or Mob, is a boy with little emotional expression. Even so, he is kind, though also shy, almost introverted, and rarely loses focus easily. Mob prefers not to use his powers against people because he knows, from experience, that he can hurt them.

History
Before meeting his master, Arataka Reigen, Shigeo was afraid of his own abilities and was searching for a guiding force to follow. He soon learned from both Reigen and his childhood sweetheart, Takane Tsubomi, that his psychic ability didn't inherently make him greater than anyone else. He also learned that psychic ability should not be used against others. This philosophy has led him to where he is today and is one of his many defining traits.

• He bears a strong resemblance to Saitama from the anime One Punch-man, an anime/manga by the same creator.

• ONE has the impression that if Shigeo is invited during summer vacation he will go regardless of whether it is outdoors or indoors, but when he is alone he lies down by the window to look at the sky.

Powers & Abilities:
Physical Powers
Initially, Mob was extremely physically disabled, lacking coordination, stamina, and surprisingly low strength. Mob possesses a remarkable ability to control his psychic powers, which he primarily uses to fuel his existing emotions. Due to a foolish childhood incident, he unconsciously sealed most of his power behind various emotional blocks, which will occasionally erupt when a particular ability reaches 100% and overflows. Emotions displayed so far include anger, sadness, hostility, rejection, gratitude, courage, tenacity, friendship, ecstasy, shame, compassion, kindness, and resignation. However, this is only a fraction of his true power, which can only manifest when he is completely unconscious and acting solely on instinct for survival; he is only seen in ???% mode.

Spiritual awareness: Mob can sense the energy of In-Humans. He has been shown to be able to extend his "antennae" up to 20 kilometers to detect the presence of other nearby In-Humans.
Telekinesis: Mob possesses immensely powerful telekinesis. With it, he can move extremely heavy objects, such as entire buildings, pin a crowd to the ceiling, create nearly impenetrable force fields, fly, increase his physical strength and speed, disassemble matter and reassemble it at a molecular level.
Psychic Energy Absorption: Mob possesses the ability to drain energy from other powers/attacks directed at him, and even from the environment around him, and add it to his own. ???%
Chlorokinesis: Mob finally learns to transmit his psychic energy to plants, allowing him to manipulate them and make them grow and mature at will.

In Mob Psycho 100, the percentage that appears on Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama represents the level of accumulation of his emotions.
How does it work?
Accumulation: Mob tries to suppress his feelings in his daily life. Every time he experiences an emotion (such as sadness, anger, gratitude, courage, or stress), it gradually accumulates like a counter.
100%: When the counter reaches 100%, the pent-up emotion explodes, unleashing its tremendous psychic power all at once. It's not always fury; it can erupt with kindness, sadness, or gratitude.
The ???% state: Occasionally a question mark (???%) appears. This ultra-powerful state occurs when Mob becomes unconscious or completely loses control, releasing a reservoir of pure, unknown power that was deeply buried in his subconscious.
