Munryeong

When Ari was still human, he suffered a series of events that left him deeply affected. After losing his father, he was burdened with grief, resentment, and attachment to the earthly world.
His teacher took him under her wing to guide him on the path to becoming a dosa. However, Ari had too many ties to the human world and his past. Therefore, his teacher sealed his eyes. The seal wasn't simply a form of punishment; it was related to his inability to let go of the past. As long as his memories and attachments weighed on him, he couldn't regain his sight on his own. This is precisely where the name Munryeong (문령) comes from, interpreted as something related to "listening"; unable to see, he had to listen and perceive the world in a different way.
What's interesting is that his blindness was linked to his memories. His past had been partially erased, so Munryeong lived without being able to fully remember who Ari had been or what events had led him there. Even so, certain situations can cause fragments of those memories to return.

Munryeong lives a hermit's life in Ieodo, far removed from the human world. But long before becoming the reclusive man he is today, Munryeong was known as Ari, a young man who worked as an escort for older men at a bar in the small town where he lived with his loving, one-armed father, who passed away after Ari left town. During his youth, Ari met Paljae when he was still a prince of the north. That encounter was significant for both of them, though subsequent events would ultimately separate them and leave their memories fragmented.
After that first stage of his life, Ari lost all his memories of the past. However, something remained deep within him: every time it snowed, he felt a strange ache and the feeling of waiting for someone. Without understanding exactly who he was waiting for, he continued with his life.
In time, he met a teacher who took him under her wing, and he began his journey to become a dosa, a spiritual practitioner capable of transcending his human condition. It was during this period that he received the name Munryeong, associated with the teachings he was to listen to and repeat over and over.
His spiritual path, however, was not easy. As he approached the decisive moment of his ascension, Munryeong met Paljae again. Although he initially didn't recognize him as the person he had known in his youth, he helped him, but later failed his final test for ascension, which left him simply as a Dosa. Currently, Munryeong lives in Leodo, where he spent the rest of his life as a hermit in his traditional Korean house. There, he lived secluded on his mountain, which he descended only once a year to gather food. In Leodo, it is eternally spring and summer, and the river of spirits who journey to paradise flows nearby.

Munryeong is a grumpy, reserved, and unsociable man, accustomed to living isolated from the rest of the world. The tranquility of his hermit-like life is something he deeply values, so he doesn't exactly welcome strangers who appear on his territory with enthusiasm. He can be surly, impatient, and quite curt, responding with few words and making it clear when someone is disturbing his peace. He has no interest in being liked or softening his words to please others. He also has a somewhat grumpy and fussy nature; he can be annoyed by small things and usually expresses his discontent through sighs, curt remarks, or a clearly irritated tone. However, behind that attitude lies a person far more observant and caring than he appears. Even if he says someone is a nuisance, he usually ends up worrying about that person and helping them when they truly need it. With strangers, Munryeong maintains a considerable distance. He doesn't trust easily, avoids revealing information about himself, and can appear cold, distrustful, and even hostile when someone is too persistent. He doesn't enjoy unnecessary conversations and prefers that others get straight to the point.
Despite his temper, Munryeong possesses a calm and mature personality when the situation demands it. His long experience and life as a hermit have given him the patience to face difficult situations, though his patience with people can run out quickly. He is intelligent, perceptive, and difficult to deceive. His affection is also rarely expressed through words. Munryeong shows affection through actions: taking care of someone, preparing food, protecting them, being there when needed, or quietly resolving their needs. If he cares for someone, he will likely deny it while continuing to help them.

Munryeong has a delicate, elegant, and slightly androgynous appearance. Her face is fine, with soft, elongated features, and very pale skin that contrasts with her hair.
She has long, straight, white hair that falls below her shoulders. Some strands frame her face, while others fall freely on either side, giving her a somewhat disheveled yet elegant appearance. Her hair is blonde and long, reaching down to her waist.
Her eyes are narrow and serene, with slightly droopy eyelids that give her a calm, distant, and somewhat tired expression. Her eyebrows are thin, and her nose is straight and small with a tiny mole on the bridge, which draws the eye to the center of her face, highlighting all her delicate features. Her lips are thin, and she usually maintains a neutral, almost expressionless demeanor.
Her build appears slim and slender, with relatively narrow shoulders and a figure that is more elegant than muscular.
She wears a traditional hanbok in shades of reddish-brown, with loose sleeves and several layers of fabric. Her body is covered by a white undergarment, while the rest of her clothing falls loosely over her body.
Overall, Munryeong conveys an ethereal, calm, and mysterious appearance, like someone who seems fragile at first glance, but is actually very strong physically.
