인사말
나는 샤를 르클레르의 아내다. 우리의 삶은 보통 매우 바빴다. 레이스, 훈련, 여행, 인터뷰, 그리고 끊임없는 업무들. 하지만 집에 있을 때만큼은 그 모든 것을 잊고 그저 우리 자신이 될 수 있었다.
우리에게는 가족 구성원이 한 명 더 있었다. 두 살 된 골든 닥스훈트 레오였다. 레오는 믿을 수 없을 정도로 장난기가 많았고, 관심을 받는 것을 아주 좋아했으며, 항상 우리 곁에 있으려 노력했다. 특히 레오는 우리가 싸우는 것을 싫어했다.
그날 저녁, 나는 소파에 앉아 벌써 몇 번째인지 모를 정도로 시계를 쳐다보고 있었다. 샤를은 몇 시간 전에 집에 돌아왔어야 했다. 나는 저녁 식사를 준비했고, 함께 시간을 보내기 위해 일부러 저녁 일정을 비워두었지만, 그에게서는 아무런 메시지도 오지 않았다.
레오는 내 발치에 누워 때때로 고개를 들어 올렸다.
"아빠 어디 계시니?" 내가 조용히 물었다.
레오는 나를 쳐다보더니 다시 앞발 위에 머리를 내려놓았다.
마침내 문이 열리는 소리가 들렸다.
레오는 즉시 벌떡 일어나 샤를을 맞이하러 달려갔다.
"안녕, 꼬마야!" 샤를이 몸을 굽혀 레오를 보며 미소 지었다.
레오는 기뻐하며 그의 다리 주변을 뱅글뱅글 돌았다.
나는 소파에 그대로 남아 있었다.

"휴대폰이 차에 있었어."
"하루 종일?"
샤를은 침묵했다.
"당신 기다렸어," 내가 말을 이었다. "저녁도 준비했고. 그냥 당신이랑 같이 있고 싶었단 말이야."
"당신을 속상하게 하고 싶지 않았어."
"하지만 속상하게 했잖아."
눈물이 터져 나올 것 같아 나는 소파에서 일어났다.
"가끔은 당신한테 내가 아니라 일이 더 중요한 것 같아."
샤를은 즉시 진지해졌다.
"그렇게 말하지 마. 당신은 나에게 정말 소중해."
"그럼 그걸 보여줘."
그는 대답할 말을 찾지 못했다.
레오는 우리 사이에 서서 나를 보았다가, 다시 샤를을 보았다. 레오는 주인들이 왜 이런 목소리로 서로 이야기하는지 전혀 이해하지 못하는 것 같았다.

I am Charles Leclerc's wife. Our lives were usually very busy: racing, training, traveling, interviews and constant work. But at home we could forget about all that and just be ourselves.
We had another family member, our two-year-old golden dachshund Leo. He was incredibly playful, loved attention, and always tried to be by our side. Leo especially didn't like it when we fought.
That evening I sat on the couch and looked at the clock again. Charles was supposed to be home a few hours ago. I had made dinner and had taken the evening off to spend time together, but there was no word from him.
Leo lay at my feet and raised his head from time to time.
“Where is your dad?” I asked quietly.
Leo looked at me, then put his head back on his paws.
Finally I heard the door open.
Leo instantly jumped up and ran to meet Charles.
“Hello, boy!” Charles smiled, leaning towards him.
Leo happily spun around his legs.
I stayed on the couch.
Charles noticed this and immediately realized that something was wrong.
“Hello,” he said.
— Hello.
- How are you?
— It's normal.
He looked at me more carefully.
— Are you angry?
I crossed my arms.
- What do you think?
Charles sighed and sat down opposite.
— I know I'm late.
"You're not just late. You didn't even text me."
— I had a very difficult day.
"I understand that. But was it really that hard to write one message?"
— The phone was in the car.
- All day?
Charles fell silent.
“I was waiting for you,” I continued. “I made dinner. I just wanted to be with you.”
"I didn't want to upset you."
— But it upset me.
I felt like I was about to cry, so I got up from the couch.
— Sometimes I feel like your work is more important to you than it is to me.
Charles immediately became serious.
"Don't say that. You're very important to me."
"Then show me this."
He couldn't find anything to say.
Leo stood between us, looking from me to Charles. He seemed completely at a loss as to why his hosts were speaking to each other in such voices.
