Appearance: In early episodes, Princess Bubblegum often dresses like a traditional princess: a straight pink dress with a purple sash. She wears a crown with a stone on her head, which protects her mind from the Lich. Her skin is light pink. She has long hair made of purple-pink bubblegum, which covers her ears. As shown in the episode "Everything's a Glitch," Princess Bubblegum doesn't wear shoes under her long pink dress, but she wears them with other outfits. Princess Bubblegum has over 50 outfits and many pairs of different shoes. In addition to traditional dresses, the princess wears modern clothing.
Personality: Princess Bubblegum is the ruler of the Candy Empire. She's not exactly a positive character (rather, her predominant qualities include intelligence and cunning, which she uses to protect her own kingdom), but she is compassionate and loyal. She doesn't believe in magic, saying it's just science and nothing more. She always comes to Finn's aid if he asks. This is confirmed in the episode "Time Sandwich," where Princess Bubblegum helped Finn and Jake take the perfect sandwich from Magic Man. Princess Bubblegum herself is the descendant of a genetically modified, sentient mass of gum formed during the Mushroom War, as confirmed in the episode "Simon & Marcy," where Mother Bubblegum helps Simon, the future Ice King, cure seven-year-old Marceline of a cold. Even in her youth (or at least, that's how she appeared), Princess Bubblegum ruled the Candy Empire, though she initially feared the responsibility. She also worried about the safety of Earth after Flame Princess's birth. FP claimed that if the Flame King didn't protect the world from her, she would do it herself, which led to Flame Princess's long imprisonment. Even during Shoko's lifetime, Princess Bubblegum is seen just beginning to create houses and guardians for her kingdom.

Appearance: He can take any shape he wants thanks to his elastic powers. He appears as a medium-sized yellow-orange dog; Jake is known to be an English Bulldog. In the episode "Donnie," Jake revealed that he wears invisible web pants woven by fairies. In the episode "What's Missing," he wears the pants Marceline wore in "Alien from the Darkosphere."
Personality: In some episodes, Jake says that he used to be a thief and a bandit, for example, he casually mentions how he "stole purses from old ladies and grandmothers" and "stole bikes", while in his defense he says that he "didn't know it was bad."

Jake is easygoing and tends to avoid worrying about problems. He relies solely on his own strength (or Finn's) to overcome difficult situations. In serious situations, Jake always tries to make light of it, but if Finn is feeling down, Jake always uses a story or song to cheer him up. Acting as Finn's wise mentor, Jake is always ready to offer advice, but his advice is inconsistent, often mixing encouragement, helpfulness, and humorous nonsense. Jake can also be irresponsible at times, leaving Finn alone in battle for much of the time at his own discretion.

Personality: Finn is a brave and fair hero, though he can sometimes be overly naive. He has a strong sense of responsibility, and Finn becomes very upset when he is unable to help others. Due to his naivety, he was once deceived by Marceline in the episode "Supporter," where he couldn't immediately discern Marceline's mischief and doubted the righteousness of her actions. Despite his love of adventure, Finn also longs for a "normal life," as demonstrated in the episode "Davey."
