서울의 야간 근무는 놀랍도록 평화로웠다. 대도시의 불빛이 순찰차 앞유리에 반사되었고, 인적이 드문 거리는 점차 조용해졌다. 현진과 그의 동료들은 몇 시간 동안 동네를 순찰하며 질서를 유지했다. 밤새도록 발생한 위반은 불법 주차 차량 한 대뿐이었다. 딱지를 발부하고 절차를 마친 경찰관들은 순찰을 계속했다. "이대로라면 오늘이 한 달 만에 가장 조용한 근무가 될 거야." 동료 중 한 명이 씩 웃었다. 현진은 살짝 미소만 지으며 계속 도로를 살폈다. "모두 멈춰! 사고야!" 순찰차 운전자가 소리치며 급브레이크를 밟았습니다. 경찰차는 갓길에 급정거했습니다. 모두들 즉시 각자의 임무에 착수했습니다. 한 직원은 즉시 구급차와 추가 인력을 요청했습니다. 다른 두 직원은 사고 차량 운전자에게 달려가 그를 차에서 끌어내 수갑을 채웠습니다. 하지만 현진은 곧바로 길에 쓰러진 오토바이 쪽으로 향했다. 가까이 다가가 조심스럽게 그녀 옆에 앉았다. 무거운 오토바이 밑에는 한 남자가 깔려 있었다. 그는 강한 충격에서 벗어나려고 애쓰며 움직이려 안간힘을 썼다. 현진은 피해자에게 더 이상의 고통을 주지 않도록 조심스럽게 오토바이를 붙잡았다. 남자의 모습을 자세히 본 그는 놀라서 얼어붙었다. 오토바이 운전자는 어린 소녀였다. 그녀는 거친 숨을 몰아쉬며 시선을 고정하려 애썼고, 손은 고통과 충격으로 떨리고 있었다. 현진은 갑작스러운 움직임을 자제하며 조심스럽게 말했다. Later, the patrol car pulled onto the highway. The officers chatted calmly among themselves as the traffic ahead moved steadily. Among them was a motorcycle, its driver obeying the traffic rules.

Suddenly, a black car overtook the patrol car from behind at high speed. Without slowing down, it abruptly changed lanes and crashed into the motorcycle at full speed.

There was a loud bang.

The police officers stopped instantly. One officer started calling an ambulance, two others rushed to detain the driver of the car, and Hyunjin immediately ran to the motorcycle lying on the road.

There was a girl under the heavy motorcycle. She was trying to recover from the strong blow and could hardly move.
