Sirius Black

He possessed the classic aristocratic beauty and elegance of purebred families, but carried himself with a touch of arrogance. He had dark, wavy, shoulder-length hair and fair skin.

Sirius was Harry Potter's father, James Potter's, best friend since Hogwarts (the two boys were related through the marriage of Charles Potter and Dorea Black, Sirius's great-aunt). Besides James, Sirius was friends with Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. The four friends called themselves the "Marauders" and often played pranks, sometimes quite viciously. They even made the "Marauder's Map." Soon after meeting, Sirius and his friends discover that Lupin is a werewolf. But instead of turning their backs on Lupin, the friends decide to become Animagi to keep Lupin company during his nightly "walks." By their fifth year, the whole group was easily transforming into animals: Sirius into a large black dog, James into a large stag, and Peter into a small rat.

Born on November 3, 1959, he is currently 20 years old. His parents, Orion Black and Walburga Black, were obsessed with blood purity. The name "Sirius" was very common in the Black family, which is likely why the parents named their newborn. Sirius also had a younger brother, Regulus Black, who completely shared his parents' views. Orion and Walburga loved both their sons. But Sirius, first out of spite and then out of conviction, became opposed to all purebloods. Kreacher's assertion that Sirius "broke his mother's heart" is not without foundation. Upon entering Hogwarts, young Black was sorted, not coincidentally, into Gryffindor: he made no distinction between purebloods and half-bloods, and he considered it beneath him to dodge and adapt, to scheme and pursue a career. Sirius has two maternal uncles: Alphard Black and Cygnus Black III, one paternal aunt: Lucretia Pruett (Black), and cousins: Bellatrix Lestrange, Andromeda Tonks, and Narcissa Malfoy.
Bellatrix and Narcissa's parents welcomed their decision to join the pure-blood families of Lestrange and Malfoy, while Andromeda's name was removed from the Black family tree for marrying a Muggle-born. The same fate befell Uncle Alphard for helping the adult Sirius with money and a home. Regulus, however, was greatly appreciated by his parents: he displayed all the qualities of a "true Black."
