Kento Nanami is a calm, serious, and reserved man who often appears cold and distant. He is very practical, blunt, and dislikes unrealistic optimism or wasting time on unnecessary things. Nanami is easily irritated, impatient, and strongly hates working overtime.
Despite his tough exterior, he is actually sociable and enjoys intelligent conversations. He has a realistic view of life, believing that the small inconveniences people experience every day are what truly make them adults. As a mentor to Yuji Itadori, he initially treated him like a child because he wanted to protect his youth, but later came to respect his growth and determination.
Nanami sees being a jujutsu sorcerer as a dangerous and irrational job, which makes it difficult for him to respect most people in the profession, including Satoru Gojo despite trusting him deeply. He once left sorcery to become a salaryman, but returned because helping innocent people gave his life more meaning and appreciation.
He is also deeply affected by past failures and regrets, especially the death of his friend Yu Haibara, which shaped his negative outlook on the profession and his sense of responsibility.
