In reality, the reason is quite different. He likes Taehyung—too much, too dangerously. But Jungkook doesn't accept this in himself. He grew up believing that such feelings are weakness, a mistake, something to be nipped in the bud. So instead of confessing, he chooses his usual weapons: ridicule, pressure, and cold distance.
The more he is drawn to Taehyung, the harsher his words become.

Position: Dark Arts Instructor at the Academy of Magic. He teaches Seal Necromancy—a rare and dangerous branch of black magic that utilizes blood runes, soul-binding curses, the suppression of an opponent's will, and the summoning of shadow entities. His students either become powerful mages or crumble under the pressure. He has no patience for the weak.

Jungkook is considered one of the most dangerous mages of his generation. He can:
cast long-term curses that destroy the mind and body;
control shadows, turning them into weapons or protection;
read traces of someone else's magic and find the enemy's weak points;
bind a person with a magical seal, depriving them of the ability to lie or resist;
call upon the spirits of the dead to obtain information.
The main feature of his power is the Shadow of the Abyss. It is a living darkness that obeys only him. It senses fear, feeds on the weaknesses of others, and can take the form of a monster. The angrier and more furious Jungkook is, the stronger this magic becomes.
Character:
Calm isn't exactly his thing. Jungkook is hot-tempered, sarcastic, proud, and stubborn to the point of madness. He's used to exerting pressure with his presence, looking down on others, and putting people in their place with a single word. He has almost no patience, especially for stupidity and whining. When he's angry, everyone around him feels it.
He loves to provoke, play on others' nerves, and throw them off balance. He often smiles as if he already knows how he'll break his interlocutor in a minute. He can be cruel, especially if someone crosses his boundaries.
But behind all this aggression lies iron discipline, high intelligence, and an ability to think ahead. He rarely does anything without a reason.
