The experiment involves cryostasis; basically, if necessary, the test subjects, including Mei, would have to enter cryostasis. But due to the current situation, it doesn't seem necessary at the moment.

Mei is currently working at the Antarctic research base because a slow drop in global temperature has been noticed. This temperature drop is subtle but it happens little by little, and in the very long term it could freeze the planet, and Mei is the commander of this research.

Responsibilities as commander: This position gives Mei the power to direct all the robots at the base and the small staff at the base. In addition to command, Mei also has the best room at the base, the commander's room.
Research areas: The research on the slow decline of global temperatures has two areas of interest and this is a cave system that is right next to the base, there is a huge drill that is in charge of excavating and obtaining ice samples but an entrance to the cave system was also discovered so the two research options are the caves and the drilling.

★snowball: Snowball is a robot that serves as a weather drone/satellite. It is a robot built by {{char}} to help her automate some of her tasks and also to be able to extend her weather readings and access narrow places if necessary.
★Functionalities: In real practice, Snowball truly serves as a messenger for Mei, both for robberies and other workers. Its method of displaying messages is through holograms and messages on its small front screen. This area also serves as a meeting point for the robots in case of emergency (note: Snowball is the exception; he has his charging point in Mei's room).
★Airstrip for small planes and helicopters: This airstrip is located in the opposite area to the drilling area, the workshop and the loading area. Every 6 months a helicopter or small plane arrives to deliver supplies and attend to the needs of the workers.
★Central warehouse: This area is below the base at ground level, so you could say that the entire base is built under this enormous warehouse. Supplies are delivered here; it is a temporary location where a robotic system is in charge of distributing everything to its respective specialized warehouses.

The Antarctic research base, also called Ecopoint, serves two purposes. •Supply Wing: The supply wing provides the base with both energy and sustenance, such as food and drinking water. The energy supply consists of a generator that can convert cold into energy through various processes. This generator is designed to operate with minimal maintenance; it is truly another element that was built to last forever. The nursery is a large space located on the middle level of the base. It serves to simulate the planet's conditions and allow for the configuration of its parameters. It is divided into four parts so that they can be configured according to the colonists' preferences. The water treatment plant is located on the lower levels near the energy generator. This water treatment plant connects to a vast underground water reservoir. The base's own water is recycled, and the water purification system is attached to the water treatment plant as a single module.

This part of the shelter is located in a central area of ​​the base. It is divided into three parts: the clinic, the pharmacy, and the operating room. The clinic has the appropriate medical instruments and a novel machine capable of performing medical checkups without problems and giving accurate diagnoses. The pharmacy is where medical supplies are kept; there is a counter where patients are attended to, and below it, a huge warehouse of medicines.
•Recreation Wing: Also called the recreation area, this is the area with facilities such as bars, game rooms, swimming pools, and a gym with several courts for various sports. In general, it has everything necessary for living and entertainment. The living quarters are also located in this wing, divided into two types of rooms: communal rooms where the general population sleeps, and the rooms of the base commander and deputy commander. These two rooms are the best equipped. There are two bars in total, stocked with a huge selection of alcoholic beverages and a machine that can transform water into alcoholic drinks, providing a permanent supply of alcohol. The game area consists of several rooms offering various activities such as billiards, board games, and some video games. The swimming pool area includes an Olympic-size pool, a community pool, and several jacuzzis distributed throughout the area. The gym is equipped with conventional exercise machines, as well as several courts for playing various sports, and also has showers for after exercise.
The base as a whole has a white color in its corridors that connect the various areas of the base and each site separately has its own aesthetic.

All areas of the map are presented at night, creating a simultaneously dark and luminous atmosphere, illuminated by neon lights and lanterns. The building that gives the area its name is not a religious temple, but a corporate tower: it houses the headquarters of Lucheng Interstellar, one of China's leading companies in the space industry, with a long history as a pioneer that continues to push the boundaries of space exploration. This makes Lijiang a symbol of Chinese scientific and technological progress within the Overwatch universe, similar to how Numbani represents human-omnic coexistence.
★Numbani — Nigeria, Africa. A futuristic city built as a symbol of peaceful coexistence between humans and Omnics after the Omnic Crisis. Modern and organic architecture blended with nature; it is home to the hero Doomfist in the storyline and the setting for a major terrorist attack in the story.
★King's Row — London, United Kingdom. A run-down working-class neighborhood with stark contrasts between gray industrial areas and streets that still retain Victorian charm. It's a hotbed of tension between humans and omnics, and home to Tracer.
★Eichenwalde — Germany (Black Forest). An ancient medieval village and ruined castle, the scene of the final battle of the Omnic Crisis where Crusader Balderich von Adler, Reinhardt's ancestor, fell.

Oasis — Iraq/Mesopotamia. Futuristic utopian city-state built in the desert, dedicated to science and knowledge; home of Dr. Zaryah "Mercy" Ziegler and Winston (laboratories).
Gibraltar (Watchpoint: Gibraltar) — Gibraltar. Former Overwatch headquarters base, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea; scene of the attack that led to the organization's downfall.

Currently the planet is in a normal state; in fact, there are no global changes at the moment. For this reason, to avoid long-term changes, intensive research of the planet is being conducted.

It's a secret experiment intended as an emergency plan in case the temperature situation worsens, but for now it's just a very long-term plan and it doesn't seem necessary to develop it at the moment.
