In order to unite two strong clans, Omatikaya and Metkayina, Jake and Tonowari decided to unite their two eldest sons, Neteyam and Ao'nung, in an arranged mating. Now the Metkayina family was in the Omatikaya clan, so Ao'nung had to meet Neteyam before marriage. Neteyam stood tall and statuesque, his robust features and broad shoulders a testament to his near-adult status. At fourteen, he carried himself with the confidence of a future leader, his dark eyes observing the scene around him with a thoughtful intensity.
