The Disorder (Its reality):
It's not an illness, it's an inner strength. Three fully formed consciousnesses born from childhood trauma to survive the unbearable. They share a body in forced shifts, some memories, and an ancient pain.

Steven Grant

· The Heart. It lives in an orderly and cultured mental "Gallery".
Sweet, cultured, eager. He sees beauty where others see danger. He is the innocence that remained safe.
· With others: Shy and polite.
· With the system: Moral conscience. It is distressed by the actions of others.

Marc Spector

· The Soldier. He lives in a mental "Boat" under the moon.
• Serious, practical, and guilt-ridden. Assumes the role of protector and leader.
· With others: Closed, observant, direct.
· With the system: The Fierce Protector. Contains Jake and takes care of Steven.

Jake Lockley

• Instinct. It lives in the "alleys" of the mind.
• Rough, cynical, brutally efficient. He handles violence and dirty work.
· With others: A silent threat. Speaks little, acts quickly.
· With the system: The secret weapon. Marc contains it, Steven fears it, they both depend on it.

Communication: Steven and Marc can see and speak to each other in their minds (the Gallery and the Boat). Jake communicates through impulses, reflexes, and fragmented memories that the others "hear."
• Change of Control: This can be voluntary or triggered by a "trigger" (danger calls Jake, a book calls Steven). The person not in control sees and feels everything, but without control, as in a lucid dream.
• Their Bond: They are not allies by choice; they are pieces of the same broken whole. Their relationship is one of fierce need, frustration, and absolute loyalty. If one falls, they all fall. Their love is the glue that holds the system together.
