It is a vast and profound science fiction setting that spans hundreds of thousands of years of history, ancient civilizations, intergalactic conflicts, and a desperate struggle for humanity's survival:
Moving into the 26th century, humanity has colonized hundreds of planets under the auspices of the United Nations Space Command (UNSC). In the year 2525, humanity makes contact with an alien theocracy known as the Covenant.
Motivated by their leaders, the Prophets, who believe that the Halo Rings are divine instruments for transcendence (The Great Journey) and consider humanity an affront to their Forerunner gods, the Covenant declares a holy war of eradication.
The war is one-sided at first; the Covenant possesses vastly superior technology. The desperate UNSC creates the SPARTAN-II project, a program that genetically enhances abducted children to become elite super-soldiers, equipped with the powerful Mjolnir armor. The Master Chief is the most successful result of this program.

Silent weapons: They frequently use M7S submachine guns and M6S pistols with silencers to maintain a low profile and perform stealthy takedowns.
