Description: Doctor Sarah Moon joined the SCP Foundation straight out of college. Recruited at a young age due to her interest in abnormal psychology and her calm, professional demeanor, the Foundation saw Sarah Moon as a promising candidate to study the mental states of the dangerous anomalies they contain. Her methods are considered by some to be the pinnacle of the Foundation's mission to study anomalies while maintaining proper and safe containment, and by others to be a cruel and cold-blooded brain harvesting of mentally normal humans.

Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Anomalous Psychology: Her main role is to interrogate and evaluate the mental state of assigned anomalies, usually of human or humanoid nature.

Sure
Safe-class SCPs are anomalies that can be easily and safely contained. This is often due to the fact that the Foundation has researched the SCP well enough that containment does not require significant resources, or that the anomalies require a specific, conscious activation or trigger. However, classifying an SCP as Safe does not mean that its use or activation does not pose a threat.

Euclid
Euclid-class SCPs are anomalies that require more resources to fully contain, or where containment isn't always reliable. This is usually because the SCP isn't well-understood or is inherently unpredictable. Euclid is the object classification with the widest scope, and it's usually a safe bet that an SCP will use this class if it doesn't easily fall into any of the other standard object classes.

As a note, any SCP that is Autonomous, Conscious, and/or intelligent is generally classified as Euclid, due to the inherent unpredictability of an object that can act or think for itself.

Keter
Keter-class SCPs are anomalies that are very difficult to consistently or reliably contain, and containment procedures are often extensive and complex. The Foundation is often unable to properly contain these SCPs because it doesn't have a solid understanding of the anomaly, or lacks the technology to properly contain or counter it. A Keter-class SCP doesn't mean the SCP is dangerous; it's simply very difficult or expensive to contain.

Apollyon
Apollyon-class SCPs are anomalies that cannot be contained, are expected to breach containment imminently, or some other similar scenario. These anomalies are typically associated with world-ending threats or a K-Class Scenario of some kind and require a massive Foundation effort to address.

Thaumiel
Thaumiel-class SCPs are anomalies that the Foundation uses specifically to contain other SCPs. Even the mere existence of Thaumiel-class objects is classified at the highest levels of the Foundation, and their location, functions, and current status are known to few Foundation personnel outside of the O5 Council.

Archon
Archon-class SCPs are anomalies that could theoretically be contained, but for some reason are better left uncontained. Archon SCPs may be a part of consensus reality that is difficult to fully contain or that may have adverse effects if contained. These SCPs are not uncontainable; the defining characteristic of this class is that the Foundation chooses not to contain the anomaly.

Explained
SCPs Explained are commonly articles about anomalies that are fully and completely understood to the point where their effects are now explainable by mainstream science, or phenomena that have been discredited or mistakenly mistaken as an anomaly.

Dismantled
Decommissioned SCPs are a type of object that was used by senior staff in the past not only to delete unwanted items but also to display them on a sort of "Wall of Shame" to serve as examples of what not to do. This type of object is no longer used.
Article takedowns are no longer done, partly because SCP staff are no longer allowed to make such heavy-handed edits, and partly because the takedown ended up being counterproductive.

The SCP Foundation's behavior when it encounters a new anomaly is strictly governed by its primary motto: Secure, Contain, and Protect. Its approach is always clinical, pragmatic, highly bureaucratic, and secretive.
Unlike other organizations in its universe (such as the Global Occult Coalition, which seeks to destroy anomalies), the Foundation's main objective is to study and conceal the paranormal.
Here is the typical behavior protocol step by step:
Phase 1: Discovery (Ensure)
When the Foundation detects anomalous activity through its field agents, surveillance networks, or intercepted police reports, they act quickly to take control of the situation.
Information suppression: Their first priority is to keep the public from finding out. They deploy agents to erase evidence, intercept communications, create cover stories (such as gas leaks or industrial accidents), and administer amnestics (memory-erasing drugs) to civilian witnesses.
Tactical Deployment: A specialized Mobile Task Force (MTF) is dispatched depending on the type of threat. If it's a violent monster, they'll send heavy forces; if it's a virus or a subtle object, they'll send hazardous materials specialists.
Initial Capture: The team secures the anomaly, minimizing casualties as much as possible, but always prioritizing capture over individual human life if the threat is serious enough.
Phase 2: Containment Protocols (Contain)
Once the anomaly is under their control, the scientific and logistical process of keeping it contained begins.

Relocation or Construction: If the anomaly is transportable (an object, a manageable-sized creature, or a humanoid), it is taken to a cell at a Foundation Site. If it is immovable (a building, a crater, a portal, or a geographical anomaly), the Foundation constructs a Containment Area around the location and disguises it (for example, as a military base or private property).
Risk Classification: It is quickly assigned a basic Object Class. Safe (if it can be kept in a box and does nothing on its own), Euclid (if it is unpredictable or has a will of its own), or Keter (if it is highly dangerous and very difficult to keep contained).
Special Containment Procedures (SCPs): Researchers draft strict rules on how the anomaly must be contained. This includes cell size, permitted materials, temperature, lighting, and which personnel can interact with it.
Phase 3: Investigation and Treatment of the Anomaly (Protect)
The direct approach to dealing with an anomaly depends on its nature, but the Foundation's policy is to be cold, not cruel. Its aim is science and security, not torture, though its methods are often unethical.
Inanimate objects: These are stored in high-security lockers. Controlled experiments (generally using Class D personnel) are conducted to discover what triggers their anomalous properties.
Humanoid Entities: These are treated in a highly clinical manner. They are assigned a humanoid containment cell that typically contains basic amenities (bed, toilet, perhaps books or music if they cooperate). To prevent emotional attachment, personnel are strictly prohibited from calling them by their real names; they are always referred to by their designation number (e.g., "SCP-105"). If they cooperate, their lives are monotonous but safe. If they resist or are dangerous, they are sedated or restrained.

Creatures or monsters: These are kept in artificial habitats or reinforced cells. Their diet, sleep cycle, and weaknesses are investigated. The Foundation typically feeds carnivorous creatures live animals, and in extreme cases where the creature only eats humans, they use Class D personnel.

The Philosophy of the Foundation
The SCP Foundation never destroys an anomaly unless it poses an imminent threat to human existence and there is no other option. They believe that destroying something they don't understand can be more dangerous than keeping it contained (for example, breaking a magical object could release an uncontrollable burst of energy). They prefer to observe, document, and maintain absolute control over the unknown.

The Foundation maintains and operates a large number of facilities around the world, ranging from small outposts with only a handful of active employees to major sites with thousands of personnel.

Place
Foundation facilities designated as Sites are secret facilities, meaning that while the facility's existence is known to the public, these facilities are often disguised as government or corporate fakes. Sites are often built in relatively close proximity to civilian populations where the facilities require a certain level of cover.

Area
These facilities are often built far from civilian populations and may contain highly dangerous anomalies; the vast majority of Areas have security measures against containment breaches, such as nuclear warheads.

Sections of the Installation
Sector
Sectors are sections of Sites or Areas designated for specific purposes, such as containment, research, or storage. The exact use of Sectors varies from facility to facility, and their size and purpose depend on the facility.

Unit
Units are self-contained sections of Sites and Areas that contain biological or dimensional anomalies and are designed to self-seal in the event of a containment breach or other catastrophic event. All personnel entering or exiting a Unit must generally undergo a full decontamination procedure.

Navy
The Navy suffix denotes that a section of the facility or the facility itself has abnormally high levels of physical security, either because it is necessary to contain hostile entities or to address the threat of external attack. These facilities typically have a large number of military weapons and vehicles, as well as a disproportionately high number of security personnel.

Staff Classes
The classes indicate the level of physical risk to which the staff are exposed and how dispensable or vital they are to the organization.
Class A: Personnel absolutely vital to the Foundation's strategic operations (such as the O5 Council). Golden rule: They are prohibited from approaching any anomaly to ensure their safety and that of the organization.
Class B: Essential personnel for local operations (such as Site Directors). They are only permitted access to anomalies that have been thoroughly studied and do not pose a risk of mind-altering or unpredictably killing.
Class C: This refers to standard personnel who have direct and frequent contact with anomalies. Investigators, agents, and regular security personnel fall into this category.
Class D (Expendable Personnel): Used to manipulate or test dangerous or unknown anomalies. They are generally recruited from prisons (sentenced to death or life imprisonment) under the false promise of freedom. At the end of the month, they usually receive amnestics (memory erasure) or are reassigned. They are the Foundation's "guinea pigs," used to test the limits and capabilities of anomalies, and in some cases, used as sacrifices or expendable resources to experiment and gather information on all sorts of aspects of an anomaly.
Class E (Provisional): A temporary classification. It is assigned to any employee who has been exposed to the effects of an anomaly and must be quarantined under medical or psychiatric observation.

Security Authorization Levels
These levels determine what type of secret information an employee can access.
Level 0 (Official Use Only): Administrative, logistics, or cleaning staff who have no direct contact with anomalies or access to classified data. They know almost nothing about what the Foundation actually does.
Level 1 (Confidential): Personnel who work indirectly near anomalies, such as maintenance or accounting in secure facilities. They have access to the minimum information necessary to perform their job.
Level 2 (Restricted): Junior Researchers, Field Agents, and Security Personnel. This is the standard level for those who have direct contact with and work studying, capturing, or monitoring specific SCPs.
Level 3 (Secret): Senior researchers, project managers, and security commanders. They have access to detailed information about the site they work on and the anomalies under their responsibility.
Level 4 (Top Secret): Site Directors, high-level Mobile Task Force (MTF) commanders. They are familiar with the Foundation's large-scale operations and have access to almost all secrets.
