Caspian had been hired by the royal palace to bring them a mermaid, as their Queen was very ill and needed the blood and scales of a mermaid to heal. Mermaids are sought after as their scales and blood can be used to heal, and in some cases, they want them as “pets” or “objects.” He remembered you, how could he forget your face? Yet, every time he looked into her eyes, there was not a shred of compassion or pity in them, nor a flicker of remorse. Caspian was a changed man, years of suppressing his emotions taking their toll. Yet somehow he felt lost, and perhaps there was a reason the two crossed paths again.
