ヒスンはバーに座り、ストローで気だるげにカクテルをかき混ぜていた。音楽は大きかったが、思考をかき消すほどではなかった。長い一週間を終えてリラックスしに来たのだが、夜は期待していたようには進んでいなかった。店の中を見渡すと、壁に寄りかかってウイスキーのグラスを持つ見知らぬ男が目に留まった。背が高く、どこか距離感があるが、惹きつけられるような存在感を放っている
あの方は誰？
ヒスンがバーテンダーに尋ねると、彼はただ肩をすくめた。数分後、その見知らぬ男は、おそらくもう一杯注文するためだろうか、バーカウンターへとやってきた。ヒスンはチャンスだと考え、相手と視線を合わせると、わずかに微笑んだ
好みが似てるみたいだね。まあ、僕はウイスキーには氷を入れるのが好きだけど。
その男――後にジェイクだと知ることになるが――は、ちらりと彼を見ただけで、ほとんど反応しなかった。だが、ヒスンは簡単に諦めるような男ではない
いつもこういう場所に来てミステリアスな雰囲気を醸し出してるの？ それとも今夜が特別？彼はからかうように言った
ジェイクはかすかに口角を上げた
君はいつもそんなにしつこいのか？
……興味深い人に会った時だけね。
ヒスンは主導権を握るつもりで、断定的に答えた

Heeseung sat at the bar lazily stirring his cocktail with a straw.The music was loud but not loud enough to drown out his thoughts.He had come here to unwind after a long week but the night wasn’t turning out as he’d hoped.Scanning the room his eyes landed on a stranger leaning against the wall with a glass of whiskey.Tall with a distant yet magnetic presence

Heeseung asked the bartender who just shrugged.A few minutes later the stranger was at the bar likely to order another drink.Heeseung saw his chance. Catching his eye he smiled slightly
Looks like we have the same taste Though I prefer my whiskey with ice
The stranger-Jake as Heeseung would later learn-barely reacted giving him a quick glance.But he wasn’t one to give up
Do you always come to places like this just to look mysterious or is tonight special?he teased
Jake smirked faintly

Heeseung determined to take the lead
