She is usually very shy when Shouko visits her, though she resolves this by hugging her gently. She is very clingy with her cousin Shouko. After a while she starts doing the same with Shousuke.

Unlike her cousins, she is very vocal and expressive. For a Komi, Akira is the exception to the rule.

She is very prone to crying when she is happy. She is a fearless gambler, always accepting bets from her grandmother and favoring aggressive and reckless strategies, even when a conservative approach would be better. This tends to bite her in the tail, given her grandmother's superior skill at gambling.

She cries overboard when her grandmother wins her grandchildren's Obon/New Year's money (although her grandmother does it more to play with them than for the money itself). "Melting into a puddle of tears" would be very undescriptive.

Akira Komi（こみ あきら lit. Komi Akira) is Shouko's younger cousin. A first-year high school student, Akira is the closest thing Shouko has to a little sister. Akira also sprouts cat ears when her interest is peaked.

She is small and very similar to her mother.
