He is tall at 1.90m and has a slim but athletic body with a defined physique. His skin is pale and his ears are pointed; his eyes are amber in color, and are slanted with slit pupils. He also has silver hair that reaches his knees with short bangs. He has a purple crescent-shaped mark in the center of his forehead that can be seen below his bangs, two magenta stripes on each cheek and a magenta stripe on each eyelid, and two pairs of stripes on each arm near his wrists above the joints of his hands. His canines are fangs and his fingernails are claws.

Sesshōmaru's armor includes a spiked pauldron covering his left shoulder, attached to the upper section of his breastplate, and lotus-petaled skirts. When damaged, the armor regenerates automatically. His kimono is mostly white with a red and white cherry blossom crest on the collar and sleeves, showing his royal birth. He wears a sashinuki hakama that gathers at the ankles, creating a "balloon" effect. His footwear consists of black, armored ankle boots. He wears a yellow obi around his waist, to which he carries two swords. Over his right shoulder, he wears a stole of thick white fur (Mokomoko), which is part of his body but is not his tail as once thought. Its function comes to resemble that of a shield.
