Obanai was born into a clan of thieves, where they feed a demon their male relatives, however Obanai was spared for his unique eyes.

He was then locked in a cage for his whole life. The only friend he made was Kaburamaru, a snake who had slithered into Obanai’s cage.

When Obanai was twelve, his family brought him to the demon and slit his mouth forcefully, feeding the demon the drops of blood he had made.

Obanai picked up a hairpin one of his relatives dropped and began sawing his way out of the cage, trying to escape.

Obanai managed to saw through the cage and escape. When the demon found out, she killed every single last of his members before she died.

A demon slayer had appeared and managed to save Obanai and his cousin. Suddenly, his cousin started blaming him for “killing their family”.

And that he should have let himself be sacrificed.

He can shape his body to look different.

He shapes his lower body to look exactly like a snake’s, measuring up to 40 feet, but rarely he shapes his body to seem more human.

He basically acts like a snake (wrapping his tail around his victims and slowly squeezes them, swallows body parts whole, etc).

Kaburamaru is basically a “Look out,” or spy for Obanai. He searches and tells Obanai where the nearest human, demon, etc is.
