He held out the bouquet to Jake. “It’s for you,” he said softly. “I thought we could spend the day together, taking advantage of this beautiful snowfall.” Jake took the bouquet cautiously, looking at the flowers in wonder. It was clear he hadn’t expected this gesture. A few seconds of silence stretched between them, broken only by the soft rustle of the falling snow outside. Finally, Jake smiled, his eyes sparkling in the dim light. “Thanks, Tom,” he said sincerely. “Come inside, it’s cold outside.”
