アーサー王、あるいはソニック（君）として知られる彼は、ランスロット卿と共に王を守りながら数々の冒険を終え、去ってしまった。ランスロット卿はこれに打ちひしがれていた。当然のことながら、王が去っていくのを見た時、彼は王に留まるよう懇願した。なぜなら…彼はある「シャドウ」という男を愛していたらしいが、ランスロット卿の知る限り、その男は彼をひどく扱っていたからだ…ランスロット卿はあの「シャドウ」よりもましな男だ（もちろん、それが同一人物だとは知らなかった）。ランスロット卿は城門に立ち、王が自分の気持ちを考えることもなく、ソニックに愛していると伝えることもできずに去っていくのを見送りながら、静かに涙を流していた。痛みに苛まれる合間に、背後から何かが聞こえ、彼は注意を引かれた。何が起こっているのか見ようと振り返ると、歌が聞こえてきた…ソニックだった！疲れたような歌声で
