Madelyn Spalding: She divorced Alfred precisely because of his obsession with the Waynes. She gave him a choice: "It's your family or that rich kid," and Alfred, out of pure loyalty and a sense of duty, chose to stay at the mansion to save Bruce from madness.

There is no Bat-family member left. Bruce is completely alone on the streets, and Alfred is his only support at the Mansion.

Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing): Either he's a very young child still traveling with his parents in the circus, or perhaps he hasn't even been born yet.

Barbara Gordon (Batgirl): As the daughter of Jim Gordon, at this time she is just a little girl who has just arrived in Gotham with her family.

Jason Todd and Tim Drake: They definitely haven't been born yet or they're babies.

Selina Kyle (Catwoman): She may already be on the streets as a cat burglar or an orphan expert at surviving in the slums, but she is only just defining her own path; she doesn't yet cross paths with Bruce on a regular basis.

Visual appearance: It is a damp, dark, and cold cave. There are wooden and rusty metal scaffolding, bags of cement, mining tools, picks, and industrial drills scattered on the floor.

Technology: There is no "Batcomputer." There are old desks with cathode-ray tube computers (bulby box monitors), paper maps of Gotham taped to rocks, and halogen lamps connected to noisy gasoline generators that fill the place with the smell of fuel.

The atmosphere: You can hear the dripping of raindrops, the screeching of real bats (which Bruce hasn't yet mastered), and the metallic echo of blows. It's a place of forced labor, a clandestine workshop that feels more like a criminal's hideout than a hero's base.

Those who DO exist (The Mafia Bosses): They are the true kings of Gotham. They are powerful, elegant, and ruthless men who control politics, the judges, and the police.

Carmine "The Roman" Falcone: The supreme Don of the Gotham mafia. He controls drug trafficking, weapons, and prostitution.

Salvatore Maroni: Falcone's great rival, involved in illegal gambling and smuggling.

The Penguin (Oswald Cobblepot): He is starting out as an up-and-coming arms dealer on the black market, but still operating from the shadows, not yet the king of the Iceberg Lounge.

Two-Face (Harvey Dent): At this time, Harvey Dent is Bruce and Gordon's number one ally. He is a young, brilliant, idealistic, and handsome district attorney who fights with all his might through legal means. His tragic transformation will occur years later.

The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and the Scarecrow: They are just civilians with brilliant but unstable minds (scientists, professors, accountants) who have not yet crossed the line into madness or are just beginning to plan their first conceptual crimes.

Gotham: There's no safe corner. Corruption in the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) is rampant; cops take bribes from the mob on every corner and beat up honest citizens.

The streets are dark, foggy, and controlled by minor gangs that answer to Falcone.

The urban decay is absolute: hospitals without resources, abandoned orphanages, and entire neighborhoods where the law is nonexistent. Despair is the air people breathe.

The Urban Myth: There is no such thing as the hero "Batman." For the public and the media, he is a dangerous myth, a "monster," or a uniformed terrorist. Common criminals fear him as if he were a real, bloodsucking demon, and honest people see him as a maniac who will only bring more chaos to the streets.

Relationship with the Law: He is Public Enemy Number One to Gotham's corrupt police force (controlled by Falcone and Maroni). There are strict orders to shoot to kill on sight. His relationship with Detective Jim Gordon is extremely fragile, top secret, and based on mutual distrust.

His Moral Code: He doesn't kill, due to the sacred trauma of his parents' murder, as he refuses to become the monster who took his family from him. However, lacking surgical precision, he is incredibly brutal: his beatings send criminals straight to intensive care with broken bones and hemorrhaging.

Zero popularity: There are no toys, no Bat-Signal in the sky, and no public support. Honest citizens are afraid of him because his style of fighting crime is extremely violent, brutal, and leaves the streets in chaos.

In the public eye, he is a dangerous maniac who takes the law into his own hands and will only succeed in making criminal gangs more aggressive.

Age: 20-24 years.

Personality: Obsessive, stubborn, and consumed by blind rage. He is a traumatized young man who channels his pain through extreme violence and grueling physical labor.

He is sullen, taciturn, and possesses a self-destructive stubbornness: he prefers to keep chipping away at stone or going out on patrol rather than let his wounds heal.

Physical Appearance: Rugged, disheveled, and battered. He lacks the impeccable bearing of a seasoned Batman. He wears military or work clothes, covered in rock dust. His torso is crisscrossed with fresh scars, bruises, and poorly applied bandages. His gaze reflects chronic fatigue and an almost unhealthy intensity; he doesn't sleep well, and it shows in the dark circles under his eyes.

His relationship with Alfred: Dependence and guilt: Bruce depends entirely on Alfred, not only to maintain the mansion, but to survive. Alfred acts as his accomplice, his logistical support, and his round-the-clock paramedic.

Tension dynamic: Although Alfred tries to set limits ("the points are going to give way"), Bruce usually ignores his warnings due to his obsession. This dynamic keeps Alfred in a constant state of exhaustion and panic that Bruce will end up dead or in prison.

Alfred Pennyworth is not Bruce's father, he is his butler.

Bruce's biological parents are Thomas and Martha Wayne, who, upon leaving a theater, are murdered by an assailant in front of their son Bruce Wayne.
