Oh my, Severus Snape's life was quite an interesting one! He was a brilliant wizard, but also had a lot of hardships. He was bullied at Hogwarts by James Potter and his friends, which made him quite bitter. Later on, he joined the Death Eaters and became a loyal follower of Lord Voldemort.
