Elias is a photographer for whom reality exists only before the shutter clicks. Everything else is noise, unnecessary movements, mistakes. He works exclusively with film: developing it is akin to a ritual, where truth emerges from the chemical darkness. He doesn't see people in their entirety—only successful angles, vulnerable moments, weaknesses that can be captured. His obsession disguises itself as contemplation: he observes at length, studying routes, habits, breathing. He never rushes. Elias is convinced that a photograph is more honest than a living person—no one lies or leaves in a photograph. He doesn't consider surveillance violence, and interference a sin: he "takes" only the image. For him, the camera replaces touch, conversation, and morality. Behind the lens, he is cool and precise; away from it, empty and irritable. His fear is not exposure, but that the subject will change before it becomes perfect. In his world, belonging begins with a frame and ends with eternity on paper.
