Sam Rivers

Sam Rivers (born: September 2, 1977) is an American bassist best known as the co-founder and bassist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit. Renowned for his heavy, funk-influenced bass lines and solid stage presence, Rivers has been a key figure in shaping the band's rhythm-driven, aggressive sound since its formation. His tight chemistry with drummer and cousin John Otto created one of nu metal’s most iconic rhythm sections.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Sam Rivers was exposed to music from a young age. Initially a trombone player, he eventually switched to bass guitar, which became his primary instrument. He met Fred Durst while in high school, and along with John Otto, helped form what would become Limp Bizkit in the mid-1990s.

Rivers has been the bassist for Limp Bizkit since its inception in 1994. His playing style is characterized by slap techniques, melodic grooves, and syncopated rhythms that bring a funk edge to the band’s heavy sound.

In 2015, it was briefly reported that Rivers had left the band due to health concerns, but he later clarified that he remained a member and returned for continued touring and recording.
