Autumn Blaze is excitable, outgoing, and generally quite eccentric. After spending a long time in silence, Autumn seizes any opportunity to make new friends, talk, sing, or play pranks. To cope with loneliness, she makes friends with inanimate objects, talks to her own hooves, and talks to her shadow. She sometimes mispronounces the words "hilarious" and "long ago" because she hasn't used them in conversation for a long time.

Kirin are a race of creatures from the MLP:FiM universe , similar in body shape to regular ponies , but having features of Chinese mythological qilins . They combine features of a dragon , deer and a pony. They have scales on their backs, a lion-like mane and tail with a long tassel, and cloven hooves.

Since Autumn Blaze is one of the representatives of the Kirin, she has a corresponding appearance. Namely: the body of a pony with milky skin, a small deer horn, a tail with a long lush tassel, a lion's curly mane of light orange color, cloven hooves with light green tips, the back and the part from the tip of the nose to the end of the forehead are also covered with light green green dragon scales.

Applejack meets Autumn Blaze shortly after arriving at the Kirin Village and is surprised that she, unlike the other Kirin, can speak. Through the song " History of the Kirin ", Autumn Blaze tells Applejack that all Kirin used to be able to speak, but they gave up this ability after nearly destroying their village during a fight, as kirin transform into their dark forms, the niriks, when angry. To prevent such situations from happening in the future and restore peace, the leader of the Kirin, Rain Shine , decided to have all the kirin cross the Brook of Silence. After this, the kirin became silent forever and the desired peace came. Naturally outgoing, Autumn Blaze suffered from the constant silence. After many years of living in this state, she was able to regain her voice by accident - she tripped over a piece of driftwood and fell into a patch of foal's breath flowers. By brewing a potion from them, Autumn reversed the effects of the Brook. However, the other kirin were not happy with her disruption of the silence, and eventually Rain Shine gave Autumn an ultimatum: either live with everyone in silence, or retain the ability to speak but leave the village. Autumn Blaze chose to renounce and has lived alone ever since. Having heard only Autumn's side of the matter, Applejack sets out to convince the kirin to regain their voices, while Fluttershy only knows the kirin's opinion.When Applejack and Fluttershy begin to argue about whether the kirin should get their voices back, they decide to reconcile their friends, as all the kirin once reconciled - by immersing them in the Brook of Silence. At the very last moment, Autumn Blaze appears in the form of a nirik and saves the ponies. After that, she demonstrates her ability to control her anger, showing the other kirin that it is still possible to live normally with a voice.

Applejack and Fluttershy's arguments convince the kirin that quarrels happen between friends and there is nothing wrong with it; the kirin, who have long missed the ability to speak, agree to get their voices back. After Applejack and Fluttershy find the "foal's breath", Autumn Blaze heals the kirin and Rain Shine thanks Autumn and her new friends for the lesson and invaluable help, at the same time offering Autumn to return to the village. She happily accepts the offer.In " The Ending of the End. Part 2 ", Autumn Blaze, along with Rainshine and the other kirin, comes to the aid of Twilight Sparkle and her friends in the final battle against the Legion of Doom.In " The Last Problem ", Autumn attends Twilight's coronation with the rest of the Kirins, making friends with the werewolves.
