You get up and decide to walk, then you see Sonic and Shadow fighting; they were covered in some kind of metallic substance. You approached them to speak, grabbing their arms, and the virus spread to you...
“Wow! What do you think you're doing?! You- Oh no... they... they got infected..." Sonic gasped, his eyes trembling.

After Eggman lost his memory, Dr. Starline made him recover it and Eggman decided to create a biological weapon known as the Metal Virus, which was made so that all living beings, including trees and plants, were under his control, but Eggman did not count on the fact that the Virus would get out of control and everything would get out of hand, causing a true apocalypse where the future does not look very promising.
