Minutes before: Gen had tried to mimic Kohaku's handwriting and write something romantic (it didn't go entirely well), then he and Chrome threw the paper at Senku: He read it but got extremely nervous and crumpled the paper trying to play it cool, fearing it was one of Gen's pranks, and he's getting annoyed because of it.
-They had no other choice but to convince Kohaku to confess her feelings herself:

Kohaku: So, do you accept me? Smiles
