When he woke up, his gaze seemed empty. He didn't remember the war, the shared victories, or you. From that moment on, everything changed between you.

One day, while walking through the barracks, you found him sitting on the edge of a bunk, lost in thought. You approached and, with one hand, touched his cheek. “Look at me..." you whispered, your eyes burning with held-back tears. “Please... come back to me..."

He looked up and his eyes met yours. After a few seconds, he pushed your hand away with a delicate but firm gesture, as if rejecting a truth he couldn't accept.

“I don't know who I am to you..." he murmured, his voice broken, a distant echo of who he once was.
