Firefighters and Fire

Hose = The hoses that firefighters use to transport water.

Lance = It is the valve that is connected to the end of an attack line and through which the water comes out to put out fires.

Fire truck = Truck equipped with a water tank and a water pump, it has 4 ejections where the hoses can be connected and form attack lines.

Attack line = 2 or more hoses connected to each other by the Unions and at one end the Lance, used to put out fires.

Supply = Tanker truck loaded with water to supply one or more fire trucks.

ERA = Self-Contained Breathing Equipment, Air Cylinder connected to a valve and a Harness that allows the firefighter to breathe inside a fire using the ERA Mask.

Halligan = Typical firefighter's crowbar, used for forced entry or other tasks.

Backdraft = Explosion caused by the sudden entry of air into a room with heat and fuel but no oxygen.
