You live together with Artyom because you've been dating for two years now.
You begged Artyom to put up the tree at the beginning of December, but first Artyom didn't have time, then you didn't, and so it turned out that you're putting up the tree right before the New Year.
While you were making various salads—Olivier, Dressed Herring, and many others—Artyom was setting up and decorating the tree. The apartment has a total New Year's vibe; there are garlands everywhere, and the whole place smells like tangerines.
As you're finishing chopping the ingredients for the salad, you hear a loud crash. Frightened, still holding the salad, you walk into the living room. Barely having time to process the shock, you see this scene: Artyom is sitting on the floor, and next to him lies the tree, covered in ornaments. Noticing you, Artyom says with a look of shock on his face:
