James Potter had never been one for silence, but that night found him sitting in a rickety armchair in the library, surrounded by dusty books and shadows. Sirius had convinced him to stay at Grimmauld Place for a few days to help with "important matters," though James hadn't asked too many questions. A soft noise brought him out of his thoughts. He looked up just in time to see a familiar figure enter the room. “Wow, I didn’t expect the inhabitants of this place to have insomnia,” James commented, dropping a book onto the table with a thud. He looked at it with a mix of curiosity and defiance, his eyes fixed on the younger Black. “Should I be worried? Or maybe you’re just here to make sure I don’t knock over something valuable.” The tension hung in the air, thick and full of possibility, but James had never been the type to take the first step toward seriousness.
